Sep 30, 2014 - Oklahoma
We didn't spend much time in Oklahoma. I swear that place tried to kill us. We did, however, find a nice little Lake in Skiatook, Oklahoma, where we spent a pleasant night. The empty campground provided an opportunity for a decidedly bored Duffy to get out and enjoy some freedom on the lakeshore. He hates water, but loves his freedom. Our second night in Oklahoma was at a private campground called Watersports Campground. I'll never know why it was called that - there was no water within ten miles of this place. They had a little laundry...Jump to full entry
Jun 7, 2012 - The last Day!
It has been a wonderful day at Skiatook (say "skytook") Lake, in Oklahoma. Temps only reached 81 degrees; there was a beautiful sunset. Fred towed some kids on the tube behind his boat. Others swam in the lake. Everyone enjoyed the burgers Glen grilled for lunch. There was some 'picking and grining' this afternoon. The day ended with a ten or so coming from the town of Cleveland--home of Fred and Gay--sharing in three freezers of homemade ice cream. Take your pick: vanilla, butter pecan, or peach. There was a bowl of chopped pecans,...Jump to full entry
Jun 6, 2012 - Some music, some boating, a fish fry!
It has been a beautiful day here at Skiatook Lake in Oklahoma. Most of the day was cloudy to party cloudy, a wonderful breeze from the east with a high of 85 degrees after the sun came out to play about 3 p.m. This morning there was time for a music session. Fred, Gay, and Glen do a wonderful job of playing and singing. As Fred said: "we just need Evelyn right here with her guitar, and Gary over there in his recliner!" Evelyn (Glen's sister) and Gary (her husband) spend the winter months with us in south Texas. There's a whole lot of music...Jump to full entry
Jun 5, 2012 - Oh, What a Beautiful Day!
There was a whole of "nothing" going on today! It was a great day to sit in the recliners, in the shade, with friends on either side of you, with binoculars for looking at the birds. I know, someone has to do it. Fred decided about ten to launch his bass boat. He and Glen went out for a couple of hours on the lake. After a lunch break Fred gave a tour of this area of the lake to Gay and me. It is a beautiful lake. The water is settling after the 4-foot overnight rise, is a clear green color. There was a north breeze today making for some...Jump to full entry
Just tried loading a couple of pictures but internet service is too sl-o-w to accomplish that task. Will do another day. The day started with us meeting Trisha for breakfast in Ft. Smith. It was then back to Greenwood to put away, store, and get ready to depart. Glen fueled the motorhome at Walmart. Diesel cost $3.54 with 5-cent Walmart card discount. Then it was the truck's turn. Unleaded cost was $3.10 with 5-cent Walmart card discount. This is the cheapest cost in a long time. I shopped while Glen did the fueling. We were off to...Jump to full entry
