Day 14 - Wednesday (Continued) We also practiced something I learned yesterday: the courtesy pass. We were riding along behind a truck at 65 mph in 70 mph zone on a two lane (one each way) blacktop when the truck pulled onto the shoulder and kept doing 65. This is known as a courtesy pass and not only is legal, but expected, in Texas. Ray tells me when you leave Texas you often see signs in the neighboring states that say "Driving on the shoulder is not permitted". But the system makes sense to me with the sparse traffic.
