May 16, 2013 - Okmulgee State Park

Wednesday we drove to Okmulgee State Park in Oklahoma, parked by the lake with lots of hiking trails about, there is also another state park just down the road- Dripping Springs. First night here we had a thunder storm that kept us awake most of the night, but since then the weather has been lovely until Saturday afternoon and another thunder storm now going on. We have walked miles & miles while staying here, seen loads of different birds but too fast to photograph.

May 16, 2013 - Deep Fork Wildlife Refuge

Friday we drove to Deep Fork Wildlife Refuge where there are quite a few boardwalks you can wander around, I had read to watch out for rattle snakes on the board walks but we did not see any there, as we walked though saw 2 Garter Snakes entwined with each other on a tree ( these are harmless). Saw different turtles here the caterpillars & bugs. We went back to the visitor centre to show him the photos of the snakes, just to check they were what we thought they were, while we were there we saw the Lunar Moth on the grass, also got talking...
