It’s another beautiful morning on Lake Texoma. John announces that he is going to make a few casts. He loses his lure and is back at the RV before his coffee gets cold. It is a short travel day. All goes well except for our frustration with the GPS. It does not like Texas and Oklahoma! As we leave the park, I again tell John to watch for roadrunners. We see two. We stop. They stay in sight long enough for us to get pictures. We now know that there are at least two roadrunners in the area! We head east and cross a long bridge over a section...

Sep 17, 2010 - What's a Sooner?

On the road again early in the morning. The ride started out pleasant with the temperature in the mid 60's. It is nice to get on the road early. Less traffic, mild temperatures and everything seems to be waking up to a fresh new day. Well that lasted only a couple of hours as the temp rose and the flat straight roads took their toll on the boredom. Joe needed a rear tire so we had located a BMW dealer in Oklahoma City that could do the change. Arrived at around 11:30 am and was out by 12:30 am. Thanks OKBMW! Had lunch and then hit the road....

We spent the morning crossing Missouri on I-44. I associate this state with great religiosity. When I was still a guidance counselor and had a senior interested in a Christian college, we often sent applications to the Show-Me state. At some exits on I-44 we saw informational signs for multiple Bible colleges in the vicinity. But there is a yin and yang to this area. As we diagonaled from St. Louis in the east across to Joplin in the southwest, we also saw many facilities designed to appeal to the trucker traffic - adult book stores, video...
