Jun 6, 2015 - Enid , ok

We survived the tornado threats and left the walmart parking lot even though there was another crazy man parked near us. If you can't say good morning to someone with out them acting like you're crazy, its time to leave. Drove 360 miles through Kansas and Oklahoma to get to Enid. Stopped by Pratt to see where bill's parents and grandparents are buried as well as his favorite uncle Walt. Stopped at the Walmart at Enid which is very nice. No weirdos yet! Rented another movie since we are low on TV and movies for the past several months!

Jun 9, 2012 - Enid OK

Well, we left Branson this morning and headed out to Enid, OK. The truck DID make it out of the lower lower lot and it was much happier when we got to the flat lands! We weren't all that impressed with the roads....turnpikes no less, that you pay to drive on...lol! We arrived at the High Point RV Park and got a nice pull thru with full hook-ups that is actually a pretty nice park. Harrison and the boys were out boating all day and we dropped by and checked out there "digs" when they got home. We plan on touring Vance AFB and maybe get to...

Jun 8, 2012 - Last day in Branson

Last day to enjoy Branson. Mostly stocked the pantry and did some other miscellaneous shopping. Went to our last show in the evening..."It" by the Hughes Family. Another fabulous music show!! It is 5 grown brothers and their wives and families...all with multiple musical talents. (Voice, violin, guitar. drums, accordion, etc) There were 33 kids and most performed. Even babies were carried out and shown off at one point in time. Our shows just kept getting better!! We strongly recommend this one...pop, oldies, Broadway, a little country,...

Apr 8, 2012 - Enid, Oklahoma

After leaving Topeka, Kansas we headed southeast to the extreme southeast corner of Kansas, where we hooked up to "Route 66". Along the way, we saw the inspiration for the "Mater"character in the "Cars"movies. It was an old rusted out tow truck in the town of Galena, Kansas & apparently was the inspiration for the Cars movies. I was hoping to pick up some Route 66 souviners, but unfortunately today was Easter sunday & pretty much everything was shut down for the day. So after travelling along Route 66 for a while & not seeing much, we hit...

Road Trip 2012

Dec 11, 2007 - Home just long enought to unpack and re-pack for Enid for a week

After getting into Wimberley, I spent the evening packing for my trip to Enid. I was flying to Dallas for an Freedom of Information Foundation Board meeting in the morning, then catching a flight to Oklahoma City. Made teh flight just fine, made my meeting in Dallas, then went on to Oklahoma City. I met Charlie, a friend of the pilot Ron Rush, who gave me a ride to Enid. I was there for a meeting on December 12, then I was staying over for the D&J Christmas party on the 14th and the D&J Board meeting on Monday the 17th. The meeting on the...

Jun 15, 2007 - D&J Meeting in Enid

We attended the D&J meeting to discuss year to date results and future planning with younger brother and CEO John and my brother Mark, the elected sheriff of Ector County, Texas. It was a good meeting. It was good to have both Martha and Terrence as part of the team. There are exciting things happening, but the next few months will be important. We ended the day at John and Cindy's, drinking wine and sharing stories. One of the best visits we have had.

Jun 13, 2007 - Back to Oklahoma City

June 13-Caught a plane in the late morning from Houston back to OKC. This is a good example of how my life is different now. The FOI Board meeting could have been a one day affair--leave OKC in the early morning, attend the meeting, and return to OKC that night. But instead we made it a more leisurely program, added in some interesting sidelights, and didn't drive ourselves crazy trying to rush around. I had been to Houston maybe 30 times in the lst year for various reasons, all related to work, and this was the most relaxed and un-stressed...
