Oct 26, 2017 - October 26, 2017 – Stillwater, Oklahoma

October 26, 2017 – Stillwater, Oklahoma I fell asleep doing the crosswords about 8. I roused up enough to go to bed and slept until 8 this morning. I met Guyla at Food Pyramid about 11. We did some grocery shopping, and then she went home. I went on to Green Acres, Sprouts and KFC for cole slaw before I came home. When I got home, I put things away and spent the rest of the afternoon reading. There’s nothing on TV tonight so I’m going to spend the rest of the evening reading. The wind came up about 7 this evening and is supposed to...

Oct 25, 2017 - October 25, 2017 – Edmond, Oklahoma

October 25, 2017 – Edmond, Oklahoma I picked up Connie, Patsy and Guyla this morning as we set off for the Von Maur store in Edmond. I was not allowed to buy any jackets and could only buy a top to go with a skirt which I love but don’t have any top that goes with it. I know that’s hard to believe considering how many tops I’m getting rid of, but nothing I already had worked with this skirt. It continued to be a hard skirt to find something to go with. We tried all the beiges, tans, oranges, pumpkins, rust, etc. We finally found a long...

Apr 3, 2016 - On our way home to Saskatchewan

Hello Everyone Well we made it through March finishing off our activities and saying goodbye to all our friends and now the season is over. We went to San Antonio with Bruce & Diana from Mar 11-13 for a Rock & Gem Show and some fabric shopping. We enjoyed the show and our time there. We have been golfing. Don started golfing on Mondays with the men and we also golfed on Thursdays. Our last day of golf was Thursday and the temperature was 98F (approx. 37C) which was a little to hot for Shelly. We spent Easter Sunday at a potluck dinner with...

Sep 24, 2015 - Visiting Bonnie and Tom

On my way from Joplin to Edmond I stopped in Tulsa to visit the Gilcrease Museum. The last time I was in Tulsa I ran out of time before I could get here. The museum has a wonderful permanent collection. There was also an interesting temporary exhibit on jazz musicians in the 40's and 50's. Surprisingly, photos were allowed in most of the galleries so I was able to take pics of my favorites. I am in Edmond, which is right outside of Oklahoma City, visiting friends that I met at the RV park in Arizona. I will be here until Saturday morning....

May 11, 2014 - Mothers Day With Debra And Bonnie

Wow - what a surprise. When I got to Debra's house I unloaded my suitcase and then got in her car for a drive to Edmond - one and a half hours away. Debra's brother was hosting the Mothers Day celebration for four mothers - his wife Ro, his sister Debra, me, and most important to him- Bonnie , his mother. I met Bonnie and Debra at El Miarage this winter - they were mahjong buddies. It was a lovely day and, as a surprise, Debra brought her mahjong set and three of us played several games before lupper (late lunch early supper.) Tomorrow...

Jan 12, 2014 - House on the Market

My parent's house is on the market! We have been working toward having the house ready to show for the last month and it looks FABULOUS! Hopefully there will be lots of showings and it will sell quickly. I have used four tubes of grout on their subway tile tubs, showers and bathroom countertops. If I never see another tube of grout it will be too soon!! Robert and dad have worked really hard getting all the repairs that we can find done. The living room, laundry room, office and bathroom were repainted due to storm damage last fall. This is...

Dec 30, 2013 - Edmond, OK

We left Craig's house in Owasso, OK about 12 noon and made a short trip (125 miles) to Curtis' house in Edmond, OK. Curtis had just got home from work. Michelle didn't get home from work until around 6 pm. They had planned for us all to go out for dinner but I was fighting a neck pain that came on several days ago and really wasn't up to it. So, while we were waiting for Michelle to get home with the pizza, Curtis, Prudy and I watched an episode of The Office followed up by two episodes of Seinfeld. I had heard somewhere that every episode...

Oct 25, 2011 - In Search Of Works Of Art

From Twin Fountains RV Park – Oklahoma City, OK My definition of “permanent” and that of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art differ come to find out. Since our initial gathering of OKC area “things to do and places to go” pamphlets and brochures this day had been planned. First stop of the day would be the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to view the largest comprehensive “permanent” exhibit collection of glass sculpture by David Chihuly. Oops, this “permanent” exhibit had been packed away for the last five months to make room for another exhibit...

Dec 15, 2009 - Day 6. Memphis - Oklahoma

Today has been a long day of travelling. Made the most of our final breakfast in the beautiful Hunt Phelan Inn this morning, and took the opportunity to get a few final tips over coffee from Stephen, the owner, on places to stop further along the route. Pasqual’s restaurant in Santa Fe was a favourite of his. After breakfast we packed up the truck and said goodbye to the guys at the Inn before we hit the road for our mammoth 500mile drive back up to route 66 in Oklahoma. We couldn’t leave Memphis without a final stroll down Beale Street,...
