We wake up to thunder and lightning. Fortunately, it doesn’t last long. I make a last minute change to our route. We head north and slightly west, to the town of Duncan. The roads are good. We cross into Oklahoma. There is no welcome sign. Duncan is now officially the farthest west we are going. Again, the GPS fails us as we search for our next RV Park. The park’s sign is very small and off the road. We add an extra eight miles to our drive. A phone call gets us back on track. I’m not used to this! There is a Chisholm Trail Heritage Center...

Jul 4, 2014 - May 21st thru 23rd

With the weather clearing enough for us to get on the road on Wednesday, the 21st, we packed things up, pulled in our slides and jacks and we were off again. Our next stop was Duncan, OK and we only planned to be there a couple of nights. Our niece, Lauren, lives in Lawton and I've been telling her for a year that we were going to stop in and see her when we came that way this spring on our "Friends Across America" tour. Apr 6, 2011 - Chisholm Trail Heritage Center

The bed at the Waco Fairfield Inn was incredibly comfortable - so comfortable ,in fact, that I slept until 8:30 this morning. Mad dash to get my free breakfast, go back upstairs and shower, and get on the road by 10 am. I decided that I would stop in Duncan, Oklahoma to visit the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center. Well worth the time and effort. This is not a very big place but has displays that are put together in incredibly interesting ways. I went on a short tour with Susie the guide.
