May 26, 2012 - Choctaw, OK

So, what have we been up to for the past month? The answer is a little of this and a little of that. We have been fairly busy but have managed to spend time relaxing in the hot Oklahoma sun as well. We did go to the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial and we were awestruck with the horrible destruction and so moved on how the citizens of the city were able to cope with their tragedy. It was sad to see all of this but it made us more aware of how sudden these things can happen and how one has to live their lives each day as though it were their...

Are We There Yet?

Aug 23, 2010 - Days off

Our days off have been Wednesday and Thursday for the past 3 months. We usually go to a movie on Wednesdays and stay home Thursday. This week however, we took liberty on both days to one- see a movie Eat, Love, Pray - it was great! What a great story line about finding who you are and enjoying the view along the way. It really spoke to us, we really enjoyed the storyline. Thursday, we decided to go out to eat. But where to go? Of course, we hadn't tried Toby Keith's yet, but guests told us it wasn't too bad. It was okay. The building is...

Aug 11, 2010 - Guthrie OK

What an incredible day today! We spent the morning and afternoon in Guthrie. First we picked up Steve's med test results and the news was very good! Next we drove to Guthrie and parked, mailed those results to the insurance co. and then walked into the Apothecary and walked through drinking Sassprilla and it was really nice to talk with the worker. We stopped and got a coffee and an Italian Soda, yummy! We walked around in the 93' heat but the architecture was incredible and loved it! We stopped for lunch at a local eatery and then took...

Aug 6, 2010 - Already August!?

It is so incredible how fast the 24 hours of a day go by so fast! It blows my minds, which I guess is pretty easy to do these days. This is August already! WOW! Well the last blog pretty much explained what we are doing. Every time I get on here, I wonder how many are really reading this. It isn't that I want everyone here, but I always wonder if I just shouldn't shut this down. Let's see what's happened in our lives in the past few weeks. Really, the same whole thing. Working on classes, working at this KOA, looking at future...

Jul 19, 2010 - Just an update!

Well, planning works but only when you allow it to work out. Not planning seems to scare us terribly but willing to take the chance. We have been in OKC since 1 May and have seen and been really blessed by all the campers/rvers we have met. We have cooked a lot of meals, served a lot of people, registered mega campers and rvers and made reservations for even more! We work more hours than we were promised but that's ok! We have been able to see Jessica in Waco, we will go see Brad in Conroe and stop in at the KOA in Lake Conroe to see if it...

Jul 6, 2010 - My head is spinning, I can't see straight, too many changes in one day!

Spinning Heads? Changes? Well, isn't that the life we chose? Didn't we give up everything to become changers? To do it willingly and excitedly is sometimes the difficulty. So, what in the world am I talking about? Well, I know God never changes, His promises are for us and we must change only ourselves, we can't change others. We can ask God to change the things that we are not okay with, but it is totally up to the person to change themselves. Gheesh, Janette, what are you talking about? You are rattling on again! Okay, I will come...

Jul 2, 2010 - Work Camping

Work Camping - As newbies to this new way of life,I am really struggling with how campgrounds and RV parks can pay so little for the quality of help they receive from their work campers. In the winter, when everyone is trying to go south to work, the pay decreases a lot! If you are full timing by choice or by happenchance, your best bet is to have an incredible savings that can keep you floating. Otherwise your dream of full-timing is gone in the blink of an eye. In our first stint of work camping, we are learning a lot. We are learning...

Jul 1, 2010 - No worries

Sometimes in life, we worry about this or that, some worry about what they will wear to work in the morning, or how to make those ends that never really meet - meet. Some worry about what will happen today or tomorrow or the future. Sometimes are worries are just wonders and not really worries. God takes care of us through out doubts and unbeliefs and even our ends meeting. He cares for the birds of the air, they don't worry about what they will eat, and He cares for you too! Yes, we worry too! But God never fails, He is never late and...

Jun 9, 2010 - WOW!

Have you ever seen God at work in your life? Or in the lives around you? For the past few weeks, this camp has been full every night! Isn't this usual? Nope! Last year, the full sign went on maybe four times according to the owner. This year, the full sign has been on every night so far! When the tornado arrived 5 weeks ago, it took out many homes and many businesses. It isn't that God was angry at them or that He didn't stand up for them, not that at all. Yet, afterwards, I had a vision, God had his hand over this camp. I know Steve and I...

May 19, 2010 - One day, many storm threats, little rain drops, lots of time off...

This is the day the Lord has made, Let US rejoice and be glad in it! This is a beautiful, raining, stormy day and our first day off. What is on the plan for today, trying to stay safe! Need to go find the Dollar Tree and the Dollar Store, why? Stuff, I NEED STUFF! Just kidding, really don't need anything, just tired of staying put! The storms are imminant today, it is currently sprinkling and the clouds are heavy. I am not sure what the "Severe" means since it is covering all the way to Nebraska with rain. We feel like what we are...

May 18, 2010 - Oh the JOY of the Lord is our Strength!

We have found a church and have been soaking in the Son. I was approached last week by a Children's Ministry worker who introduced herself, said she works in CM and would love to have someone new in there. I had to smile huge and said, I am a Children's Pastor and am on Sabbatical for the summer, otherwise I would love to. My dh said the other day, he would have stopped me if I stepped into it. It is time to soak in the Son and rest in the Lord. I have really struggled with not being around "my kids", it is very similar to having an empty...

May 13, 2010 - OKC Tornado alley and stormville u.s.a. and God's foreverness

Have you ever had an incredible God week? Wow, God has shown himself strong here and mostly in our lives period. We got here, late on Thursday April 29th, we had 2 days off, whew! After traveling in the wind all day it was terribly bad! So, we rested, found the Walmart, got groceries and relaxed until Sunday when we went on duty for the next 10 days! WOW! A lot to learn and a lot to say goodbye to. Changes amidst the chaos and life. Finding a Bible diggin church to rest in. We found one, it is really a nice place and a nice change. We are...
