Sep 2, 2010 - Mid-West ... not for the faint hearted!
Boy oh boy - have we had our share of crazy weather since we have been meandering in the mid-west? Today was a hot, hot day. We had a few things to accomplish before pulling out of Oklahoma tomorrow morning. After breakfast Tony packed up everything outside and I went off to WalMart. While pushing my cart around the grocery section I heard a familiar voice calling "Mommy". I bumped into Lisa who was doing the shop for the 7 of us for the long weekend. We chatted and walked around together getting all the last minute goodies. I got back in...Jump to full entry
Sep 1, 2010 - A day in Oklahoma City.
Today we took a 40 mile trip north into Oklahoma City. We had planned to visit the Memorial (Murrah Building) and do the water taxi in Bricktown but the weather put paid to all of that! It rained lightly, on and off, so consequently we mostly viewed Oklahoma City from the car. Our first stop was Camping World to get a couple of items. Of course they were clear across town from all the sights that we wanted to see ☺ We then drove south on the I-44 and went off on Western Ave which is an interesting “shopping street”. None of the mainline...Jump to full entry
Aug 30, 2010 - Sausage making!

Lisa has been showing me around her town and we’ve spent great time together. We decided that it was time for us to get busy and make a huge batch of Boerewors. Boerewors, translated into English is farmer’s sausage. This is our country’s traditional sausage, which we grill outdoors with steak and chops – this we refer to as a braai - and we also cook...Jump to full entry
Aug 27, 2010 - Aaah, with family .... eventually.
It was wonderful only having a 104 mile drive today, which meant that in less than 2 hours we were pulling into Time Out RV Park, here in Chickasha, OK. We arrived just before lunchtime and the owner told us to just go directly to our site, which is their largest pull through site. This is a very small RV Park, so it was easy to find the site and get settled. We called Lisa and let her know that we had arrived and also asked directions to Wally World, as we needed to pick up some goodies. We ate lunch and then took off for a quick trip to...Jump to full entry
