May 10, 2014 - Catching Up On Errands

I'll be staying at a friend's house the next two days so I thought I had better get myself together before the visit. I did laundry, went to the bank, shopped for some much needed hair products, got a pedicure, and repacked suitcases. As I was doing my errands I ran across a parade in celebration of "Rooster Days." In 1932, the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce came up with Rooster Day . It was designed to help farmers get rid of excess roosters and keep egg quality high. Nowadays the farmers use commercial insemination techniques but...

Sep 4, 2012 - The excitement prior to the trip

In less than 34 hours I will be boarding American Airlines to fly to Honolulu with my cousin Ricky. This is a vacation of a lifetime, one that I never thought I would go on. I'm not even sure if I will get any sleep between now and then, but that's ok, because the 8 1/2 hour flight leaving Dallas will give me more than enough time to rest up for what lies ahead....stay tuned.

Trip to Hawaii

Sep 13, 2011 - Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

Back on the road again. Left Joplin after a quick tour of the town. It was dark when we got there last nite, so we toured a little bit. Devastation from the tornado was major. Leveled whole blocks. Then the next street was untouched. And that was just in the business area. Never got to the residential area. Our next stop wasn't far. Within 10 minutes we crossed over into Kansas which has only 13.2 miles on Rt 66. Guide said to stop at the renovated garage named "4 Women on the Route". Took pictures outside but hesitated to go in. Finally...

Sep 13, 2009 - Day 19 - Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNDA! For your birthday, we're going to ride chilly, rainy, gloomy highways! And not feed you again! Ick. Leaving Salina - we hopped on 135 south - and headed toward Tulsa, Oklahoma. Toll roads - ick again. Ever tried to dig change out when you have on your rain gear??!! The folks behind us love it when you have to stop the bike, put in neutral, then half strip while trying to find your pocket! LOL Cimarron Parkway took us into Tulsa - again not finding anything to eat until we pulled into Tulsa and found an italian...

Nov 13, 2007 - Don't Drink And Drive!

Gosh it's been forever since I last wrote. Sorry about that. There has been a lot going on here that has kept me busy. We are in Broken Arrow right now until the 25th of this month. Just long enough to have Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Michael is still with his old job and is teaching a class this week in Tulsa. He will then go back to Chesapeake next week, but since it's only a 3 day week he is going to drive it leaving the Creek and me here so we won't have to just turn around and pull it back. Everyone here is expecting us to...

Oct 7, 2007 - Last day at Spavinaw

Our morning started of really early with a call from Michael's buddy Robby. It was 5:30 a.m. to be exact. He was on his way to Spavinaw Lake with his brother in law to do a little fishing and wanted Michael to go out with them. While Michael was getting ready to head out for a morning of fishing I decided I might as well get up. Good grief it's still dark outside, but once I'm up, I'm up; I'm just not one to go back to bed. While he went out I decided to spend the early morning curled up in my chair with a juicy book. What a great way to...
