Oct 26, 2019 - October 26, 2019 – Ardmore, Oklahoma

October 26, 2019 – Ardmore, Oklahoma Well, I’ve given up on staying at the COE Liberty Hill Park. I’ve got 2 days of clear weather before it starts to rain again. So, I’m heading straight to Victoria, Texas tomorrow. It was raining here this morning so I’m staying here tonight. Then, tomorrow, I will have the long haul to Victoria. Monday is supposed to be clear, and then it is supposed to rain Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, which is the day I will go on to Aransas Pass, is supposed to be clear. In addition to rain, the...

Oct 25, 2019 - October 25, 2019 – Ardmore, Oklahoma

October 25, 2019 – Ardmore, Oklahoma I think it must have rained all night. It was certainly raining when I got up. The rest of the day has been overcast and misty and/or raining. According to the radar, there was snow about 50-75 miles west of where I am. Can’t tell if was just flurries or more from the radar. Anyway, I’m glad that it didn’t even flurry here. I may stay tomorrow night here. The weather is really not supposed to clear up until Sunday. I see no reason to set out until it does. I got out this morning and turned on the...

Oct 24, 2019 - October 24, 2019 – Ardmore, Oklahoma

October 24, 2019 – Ardmore, Oklahoma It was raining when I woke up this morning, and it has rained all day – most of the time a heavy rain along with high winds this afternoon. I called the office and asked to stay tonight and tomorrow night. While it is not supposed to rain here tomorrow, it is supposed to rain where I’m going near Waco I’ll stay here Saturday night as well if the weather doesn’t improve. I’m glad that I got this far south before the weather caught up with me. It is supposed to snow in Emporia a week from today. The lows...

Oct 23, 2019 - October 23, 2019 – Wichita, Kansas to Ardmore, Oklahoma

October 23, 2019 – Wichita, Kansas to Ardmore, Oklahoma I was on the road shortly after 8 this morning. The first 30 miles or so wasn’t bad, but the wind came up, and I have fought it for over 200 miles. I was really glad to get here and get parked. Unfortunately, the bay door which Carl thought he had fixed refused to open this afternoon. It had worked perfectly fine yesterday and this morning, but it wouldn’t unlock tonight. I think the lock is broken. I finally found a repairman who come out to get it open. He didn’t have the right lock...

Apr 5, 2019 - April 5, 2019 – Dawson, Texas to Ardmore, Oklahoma

April 5, 2019 – Dawson, Texas to Ardmore, Oklahoma It was a good thing that I didn’t intend to leave early this morning because it was foggy. Even when I got on the road at 10:45 it was still a little foggy. I had an easy run up to Ardmore today. The only interesting thing that happened was something that I saw. Along part of the route a railroad track ran parallel to the highway. Every so often there would be gravel county roads and driveways which crossed the tracks and entered the highway. The tracks were a lot higher than the level of...

Oct 21, 2018 - October 21, 2018 – Stillwater to Ardmore, Oklahoma

October 21, 2018 – Stillwater to Ardmore, Oklahoma I got on the road just shortly after 8 this morning. It was a beautiful day for driving. I stopped in OKC to fill up with gas. I got to the park about 1. I got parked, hooked up and the car unhooked. I drove down to Roanoke, Texas to deliver a card which I’d picked up at Post Office Bay in the Galapagos. I’m batting 3 for 3 in that no one was home there either. I have one more card to deliver in Katy and hopefully someone will be home there. I stopped in Ardmore at the Two Frogs restaurant...

Sep 25, 2014 - Three Long Days

Sadly we’ve left the desert and mountains behind us! After three days of driving we’re in Ardmore, OK; still a long way from home but we’re getting there. We left Grand Junction Tuesday morning. The drive on I-70 was beautiful. Just a few miles east of Grand Junction we passed by Palisade, Co - a place I’d like to visit sometime. It’s a fruit growing area as you can see from the first two pictures. I think they have something like 28 wineries there. After Palisade we drove through tall, narrow, snaking canyons with the Colorado River at our...

One for country dogs with a tree stump and one for city dogs with a fire hydrant. 4:00 We arrived at the Hidden Lake RV resort near Ardmore, OK. After we set up...

Sep 17, 2011 - Ardmore, Ok

We are back on the road again after spending a couple of nights in Houston. We had a good time with Shirley and Dick. We did lots of talking, trying to catch up with everything. They live in a very nice apartment outside of Houston. We went to a Mexican Restaurant on Thursday night and the Blue Water Grill on Friday. Dick took us for a ride around the area showing us all the new buildings, etc. Traffic is bad at times, luckily we didn't hit rush hour. We are in Ardmore, Ok, today about 100 miles south of Oklahoma City. Tomorrow we will pick...

Dec 31, 2009 - Oklahoma is OK

We hadn't planned on spending much time in Oklahoma any time soon. We'd already spent one night within it's borders on our journey north and were planning on spending just one more on our journey back south, however, our plans were about to change. We departed Campus RV Park in Independence, Missouri on Monday morning, November 30, with plans to spend the night at an RV park in South Haven, Ks. Traffic was heavy while leaving the metropolitan area of Kansas City but moved quite fast so we arrived in South Haven just before lunch. I was...

May 11, 2009 - Excitement - Wheel Fire

Got started at 9:11 a.m. and planned to make it to Norman, OK, but fate had other plans for me. I stopped at the Oklahoma Welcome Center (140 miles into the day's travel) and stayed there for approximately 30 minutes (2:00-2:30), didn't notice anything wrong with the truck or trailer. About 30 minutes after I left the rest area (mm 21 along I-35), a truck passed me with a female passenger waving frantically to get my attention and pointing to the rear of the trailer. I pulled over and discovered the curb side rear wheel ablaze. I have 3...

May 7, 2009 - Finally, warm weather

Three hundred forty nine miles of bumpy road got us to Ardmore today. Temperatures have started to warm up as we head south. As we entered Oklahoma it was in the 70's We passed a neat campground called Turner Falls that might be a future camping trip. It had suffered some damage from the recent heavy rains here in Oklahoma but is scheduled to reopen this weekend. It is about 20 miles north of Adrmore. We are staying at a park called Hidden Lake and it is very nice. Temperature is 85 and we are wearing shorts!!! We are planning on leaving in...
