Sep 28, 2020 - The Sooner State

We left Arkansas and drove along a fun side road, Highway 62, to Checotah, Oklahoma. We haven’t done too much in the state of Oklahoma so we decided that would be one of our stops on the way to Texas. Checotah was named for Samuel Checote, the first chief of the Creek Nation elected after the Civil War. This tiny town of 3,300 people is home to numerous excellent antique shops and a Civil War battle site but its main claim to fame is it is the childhood home of Carrie Underwood who won the title “American Idol” in 2005 and went on to become...

Dec 25, 2013 - Merry Christmas!

We hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas...we certainly did. I picked up dad and brought him over to the hotel for breakfast then we went up to our room to open presents. Day 72 - Ada, OK 10/23/2013 We visted with Roger a bit this morning and said our goodbyes. We arrived in Ada in time for lunch. We found our campsite, then headed out to do some genealogy work. Later we surprised Bob's cousins Rilla & Roy. We had a nice visit with them. We will try to see another relative tomorrow morning before we leave town. We will be off line again for a few days as we will be visiting with friends and relatives.

2013 Fall Colors

Aug 2, 2009 - Ada, Oklahoma

We are still a little nervous but as time goes we will be more relaxed. This park is not fancy but the manager is so nice and helpful. After we got checked and he saw how big our rig really is he went and trimmed the tree on our site and even helped Ken with the hook-ups. The name of the park is Twin Lakes RV.
