Sep 22, 2013 - Waynesville, OH

Sun, 22 Sep: We actually drove more than thirty miles today... Yes, none of these wimpy twenty and thirty mile days. We not only drove more than thirty miles, we actually crossed a state line! Today was the last day of the FMCA regional rally at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen, and they had to get somewhere around 500 rigs out by noon. Given that most of the folks were planning to dump their holding tanks, we envisioned quite a pileup. Hence, we elected to get an early start and even set our alarm clock!!! We rolled wheels a few...

2013 Travels

Jun 22, 2013 - Central Ohio

Today’s route cut a diagonal across Ohio along US 40 and US 22 through Lancaster, Circleville, Washington Court House, and Wilmington. The road between the cities is through farm land that looks a lot better than the parched corn and thin hay crops last year. We ended the day near Waynesville, OH at the Spring Valley Frontier Land Campground. We got the last space available. Our neighbors are Escapees who have ben full timing since 2007. Since we got in early and I didn’t eat any lunch, I thought it was time to search for a DDD. We’re just...

Oct 17, 2012 - Waynesville, OH

We have continued our move to the east and are now in Waynesville near Dayton, OH. We stopped here primarily to visit friends and relatives. On Tuesday we got together with Martha and Tony Pascale who have recently moved to Centerville (just south of Dayton) from Scottsdale, AZ. We met them at the Squirrel Creek Reserve where we had an enjoyable walk through the woods. After our walk we went to their comfortable new home where we had dinner and conversation. Although our views on politics differ sharply we had a good time and parted on the...

Sep 27, 2011 - Moving Toward Another Rally

From Spring Valley Frontier Campground – Waynesville, OH Leaving our home for the last four weeks in the rearview mirror, we started our journey to Cookson, OK and the “Chicken Creek Rally”. The drive today was uneventful and only had one stop at a roadside rest area for lunch and the 180 miles took a little over four hours. This park for tonight is just that………a one night park! A very old park with narrow gravel back in to back in sites and then also very close to your neighbor. One of the two back to back sites would have the utilities on...

Home Sweet RV - 2011

Apr 19, 2010 - Cedar Creek State Park

We had numerous bike trails to choose from out of Xenia, OH. Decided on the Little Miami Scenic Trail and did 22 miles of flat, paved, interesting scenery. Bob found a new bike he thought might make him go faster. Unfortunately the seat had spikes on it - too uncomfy !!!!! Also found this neat horse sculpture - filled with all kinds of metal scraps and even a couple of tricycles in the middle. So far we are one of the very few camping in these Eastern campgrounds. Guess it's a little early for most people. We've had ice on our awning a...

Westward Ho - Again

Oct 12, 2008 - Garst Museum/Sauerkraut Festival

Start odometer: 48580 Left Greenfield at 10:21 am Today, we’re off the Dayton Ohio. En route, we stopped in Greenville, OH which was home to two famous people - Annie Oakley (Phoebe Moses) and Lowell Thomas. We visited the Garst Museum to learn more. This museum also has lots of information about Mad Anthony Wayne. We got so caught up in the museum that we lost track of time. Since it was Sunday, we missed the KitchenAid Factory tour, one T would have loved since she loves KitchenAid appliances. She’s had her own K5A stand mixer since the...

Sep 5, 2007 - Frontier Campground, Waynesville, OH

Hi Everybody, Well we are now in OH, where we are both originally from, so of course we've got lots of people to see, mainly our children. Our first stop was calling my precious sister Barb and her husband Oakie, they live close to the IN, OH border, so we were able to meet for lunch. It was so good seeing her and Oakie. Our next stop is in Waynesville to see Tim's daughter Doreen, husband Randy and two great kids, Sarah and Garrett. We had a great time, getting to visit and spend some time with the grandkids, they are adorable. Doreen...
