Jun 11, 2017 - Streetsboro OH

After an almost 7 hour day on the road from Lewisburg, we are currently parked in Streetsboro, Ohio at a campground that my records say we have stayed at before, though it doesn’t look at all familiar. Either my memory or my record keeping has failed, I’m just not sure which. We got set up Friday evening and headed into the very nice little town of Hudson – well it was Friday after all – to grab some pizza and snoop around a bit. The town is loaded with nice old houses, a neat little town square shopping area and everything we have seen is...

Sep 4, 2016 - Streetsboro, OH

Overnighted in Streetsboro, Ohio Streetsboro KOA is huge! 210 RV sites, 120 tent sits and lots of cabins. The office registration/store is little change from when it was built in the 18th century. Three ponds and acres of grass and shade trees make this a very popular place.

Aug 15, 2016 - Charlotte visits her boss

Charlotte's take again....today we planned a drive to Cleveland to visit with the editor and managing editor that I write for. I usually see them at annual editorial board meetings but didn't last year because of my hip replacement. We got going early as it's Monday and we had to be in traffic going into the city. But it wasn't too bad. Drove through the uppity expensive Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights area with huge mansions and gorgeous trees lining the streets. What is someone going to do with an 8 bedroom house? just kidding, but...

Aug 14, 2016 - Charlotte finds her old home and visits with an old friend

Up somewhat late as we didn't have to get into Chagrin Falls to visit with a friend of Charlotte's when she lived here with her first husband, Chris, in 1970-1973. So I took my usual walk. It was hot but not as bad as it was when we were on the east coast. Came back to a nice breakfast. We lolled around until 11:30 to leave for Chagrin Falls. Not sure about how much traffic we'd encounter but as it turned out, not much. We got there at 12:30 and were supposed to be at Barbara's house at 1pm. Charlotte had planned to show me her house on...

Aug 13, 2016 - Are you ready for some football

We are on the move again today, heading to the outskirts of Cleveland to a town called Streetsboro. On the way here we had several heavy rainstorms where we had to really slow down and drive easy. The land we are going through is still heavily forested but is thinning a little as we go west. As we neared our destination we could tell we were getting near a large city, even though Streetsboro is still 30 miles from downtown Cleveland. We are staying at the closest RV park to Cleveland which is a KOA, so fairly nice normally with amenities...

Jul 30, 2015 - Streetsboro, OH KOA

/// Streetsboro KOA Thursday - July 30, 2015 A Travel Day: We got an early start this morning, departing the Daisy Barn Campground in Wilson, NY by 7:00 A.M. Chuck and I were both apprehensive about traffic issues in and around Buffalo. As it turned out, we navigated the traffic without issue and were soon on I-90, the NYS Thruway headed west towards Erie, PA. We had just two toll booths to deal with and the traffic was lighter than expected. The road conditions were mostly good and weather could not have been better. We made just two rest...

Our best visit so far....met Melissa, Al, Dylan and Gage for our Labor Day weekend get together in Streetsboro, Ohio. Al is originally from Cleveland which is close to Streetsboro, so for the four days we were together he became our Tour Director and he did a great job! Dennis got a much needed rest. We started out by touring the Cleveland area including many little towns where Al had lived thru the years and where he had gone to school. Also in Cleveland over Labor Day was the Cleveland National Air Show featuring the Pensacola, FL based...

Jul 17, 2013 - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Before we went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we drove to Bay Village to check out some more old haunts from Mike's childhood. We also enjoyed one of the delights we have found in traveling around, eating at places like those recommended by guy Fieri on Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins. We went to a famous Cleveland sandwich place called Melt. As you can see from the picture, they make a fabulous sandwich! We really enjoyed the Hall of Fame. (We seem to be on a nostalgia kick in this part of our journey!) They had such an interesting...

Jul 6, 2013 - Cleveland, Ohio

After our stressful arrival last night, we took our time this morning. Since George did such a nice job backing into our site, hitching and pulling out was a piece of cake. We were on the road by 10:20, heading west to Ohio. We enjoyed the rolling hills of western PA. As we crossed over into Ohio, the corn looked healthy, not very tall but nice and green. We arrived at our Streetsboro KOA around 3:00 today, what a nice site!! Lots of shade trees and a nice cool breeze. Much easier set up than last night. We have our first official campfire...

May 19, 2013 - Streetsboro OH

Today was pretty dang uneventful. It went as planned, had no monkey wrenches thrown in, and didn’t tax us too much. We got up, walked the beast, ate some breakfast and around 11:00 we headed about 40 minutes NW of the campground to see the Cleveland Indians take on the Seattle Mariners at Progressive Field. The trip was easy, as was the parking and the walk to the field. We got inside, wandered around as we usually do, and then found our right field seats. The park is OK, kind of like a bunch of them that we have been to but 2 things stood...

Today was a drive and do nothing day. We have them every once in a while. We didn’t get moving early enough to get to Cleveland in time to go to the 1:05 game. No particular reason, it just didn’t happen. So,we finally wheeled out of New Stanton at the crack of 11:30 and headed onto I-76 west, passing to the north of Pittsburgh. We crossed into Ohio, then onto I-80 for what turned out to be a very pleasant less than 2½ drive to our home till Monday morning in Streetsboro OH, about 35 minutes SE of Cleveland. Which is otherwise known as the...

Sep 29, 2012 - Cleveland

We headed into Cleveland. On the way we called the Lolly the Trolley ride and made reservations for the 3:30pm tour. Since we had a while, we decided to try to make the 11:00am lunch cruise on the Nautica Queen. We just made it. When the boat was under way, we had a buffet lunch which though not great, was pretty good. Along the way, the narrator pointed out some of the Cleveland landmarks. We headed up the Cuyahoga River and into Lake Erie. There were many fishing boats out in the lake fishing for Perch. There were also several sailboats...
