Jun 21, 2017 - Ranch Days, Kittens, and Plans for Return

Monday, 6/19/17 Rain and colder today. When it rains there is mud. And puddles. And mud puddles. Thank God for muck boots. The rain comes in sheets then leaves for awhile letting us wonder whether it’s done or not. Sheets on and off all day. Joe, a sort of handyman here took an overall look at my car and determined that my problem was a bent brake guard. He bent it back and said that all else looked fine. The scraping sound is gone too. Joe used to be a mechanic, among other things (restaurant manager, property owner, jack of all trades,...

Jun 18, 2017 - Saturday and Sunday at the Ranch

Saturday, 6/17/17 We were supposed to have 2 more guests today so I tacked all the horses that were rideable for the week. Unfortunately Quintin had a couple cinch sores due to faulty tacking (not me!) so I medicated the sores and Quintin cannot be ridden until they heal. So…. I tacked Bandit, Taffy, and Lacy. It was to be my first time leading the creek ride so I needed to be on a horse that I could trust to lead and be nice to me. So I rode Bandit, Debbie Taffy, and Bill Lacy. The creek ride is the best because you ride through the cool...

Jun 16, 2017 - Last of Ohio and back to the Ranch

Thursday, 6/15/17 Another beautiful morning in Ohio. After enjoying the backyard morning, the girls and dawgs took a long walk to the park and played on the play ground. Unlike any playgrounds that I grew up with, but it was fun. It had different climby things that moved. It could be a good workout place. Cindi and I decided to go out to look for a sofa for their living room sans dawgs. Thursday’s are garage sale days in Parma, so on the way we stopped at an estate sale that had lots of band equipment, CDs, records, tools, furniture, and...

Jun 14, 2017 - Birth Day and Ohio

Happy Birthday Gary! Another beautiful morning in Ohio. I actually slept to 8am! Unheard of. Took it easy today hanging out with Cindi and Gary. Cindi had a monthly Parma hoodie gathering to go to and I was invited. It was fun to meet the northern hoodies and chat with them. Lynn, the hostess, is the wife of a Presbyterian minister. They held church in the living room of their home. She and I talked about the challenges with my Calvary church, our respective beliefs, and concerns with our loved ones who are not believers. Of course we ate...

May 23, 2017 - Getting there - Day 2

I highly recommend audio books on long drives. It takes away the monotony of the road and the drive does not seem as long. I beat most of the rain on the way to Parma. Skipped breakfast and had one of the protein bars that my wonderful daughter gave me for the road. The ride through South Carolina and North Carolina was uneventful. We hit a tip of Virginia that surprised me. We stopped at a couple rest stops along the way but the one in Virginia was memorable. It was like a nature trail with winding paths amidst the woods with picnic...
