We then headed to the James Garfield home in Mentor, Ohio. This was a great visit we started with a movie on the life of Garfield. We learned many things about Garfield and his life, his schooling, how smart he was and his run for the presidency. Now it was time to tour the home. In this case our volunteer was excellent, stayed to the topic, pointed out many things in the house and told of stories of the family. The house is as it was when Lucretia died. May 17, 2010 - Mentor, Ohio

After a 6-1/2 hour ride on Sunday, we arrived at Mentor, Ohio to spend time with John’s cousins. The first evening was spent catching up on everyone’s lives and enjoying good food and conversation. Monday we ventured to Cuyahoga National Park amidst rain drops. Luckily we didn’t get heavy rain so we could walk around through the park enjoying scenery sans bugs. Oct 1, 2006 - Lake Erie

Spent last night in Geneva, OH. This morning we drove through Geneva-on-the-Lake, a picturesque, summer resort town. With it being a Sunday and the 1st of October, though, we were just about the only ones around. Seeing all the cute shops, ice cream parlors, mini golf, and cottages, I could imagine how crowded it must have been a month ago. Some of the leaves on the trees are starting to turn gold and orange. Aug 26, 2006 - Geneva on the Lake, Ohio

We left New York State on Wednesday 18th August, travelling through Pennsylvania along the southern shore of Lake Eire. This is more like an inland sea than a lake as it is so big, as are the other Great Lakes. We stopped off at a place called Geneva on the Lake, which is actually in Ohio. It was an immaculate campsite with great facilities. Ironically in the midst of such luxury, the frontier spirit overcame Sarah, who insisted that the evening be spent around a log fire, following that well-known pioneer pursuit - roasting marshmallows....
