May 20, 2017 - Watertown, NY to Maumee, Ohio

We left Watertown about 5:15 am, early birds that we are, anxious to get on our way. We also are trying to make up for lost time in leaving a week late, as we want to get to Yellowstone before it gets busy there. So, original plans included a stop at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but we skipped it for now. Will hit it on the way back if we come this way, or on another trip. Nothing too exciting today. We passed the Duct tape world headquarters just west of Cleveland, as well as Progressive Field where the Indians play. I-90 has a section...

Sep 5, 2013 - Homebase

This is my first entry to our journal. Still working myself around how to use this site. Will add pics later date. Greg and I have 3 grown children and we live fulltime in our motorhome. It wasn't too hard to adapt to living in a smaller area, but there are always some issues. Greg likes to talk; I don't. Greg is always doing something; I don't. Suffice it to say, we have been married 35 years, but we haven't become one person. But, we both enjoy being on the road. We wish we were on it more often. Starting next year, we will begin...

Jun 14, 2013 - Day 13 of 14--Second batch of photos.

Here are more photos of the Crazy Horse National Monument and Museum--including a bonafide post office station and an authentic stage coach in the studio of the sculptor. Some fascinating information available in the museum about the native Americans of the area. For those of you who are interested in the history of the native Americans, this is a must-see. The sculpture of Crazy Horse dwarfs the Mt. Rushmore sculptures. Then you will see some photos of the Little Big Horn memorial park. It was an awesome place, and you can see the stones...

Jun 14, 2013 - Where are we now? Maumee!!

The final leg of our journey awaits us tomorrow, starting in Maumee, Ohio. Yes, Maumee is a town in Ohio just a short jaunt from Toledo. A quiet little town, but a good place to spend the night in the Courtyard. After dinner at the Outback right beside the hotel, we retired to chat and share a few adult beverages--to toss around stories and enjoy each others' company before our journey ends. I'm uploading 2 sets of photos tonight because I can only upload 16 at a time. What you will see in this batch is some Crazy Horse National Memorial,...

Jun 14, 2013 - More from Maumee--more photos from last 3 days

We stopped for lunch today outside of Chicago, Illinois, at a place called Portillo's. It came highly recommended by Guy Fieri and by Joe's best friend--who has eaten there twice this week while visiting her family. They are known for their Italian beef sandwiches, so I had to have one. Joe had to have the big one, of course...and we were both really pleased. Dr. Bob had one of their beef hot dogs, and by his estimation, they challenge the best beef hot dogs he has ever eaten. Coming from Long Island, he has become much of a connoisseur of...

Sep 30, 2011 - Last day of work

My last day of work was Friday, September 30, 2011. I had an exit interview appointment with HR at 10:00 am to go over key documents and insure that I understood my last pay statement and to answer any questions. At the conclusion of this short 30 minute meeting I turned in my laptop, blackberry and accessories and made a quick trip around the Training Center saying my last goodbyes. Janis and I then went to Café Marie’s for a nice quiet and breakfast and then spent most of the remainder of the morning shopping for some party supplies and...
