Jun 16, 2012 - Settlers' Watch, Lorain, Ohio

Today we are heading to the Duct Tape Festival in Avon, Ohio, but we made a couple of stops along the way in Lorain to see Settlers' Watch and the Lorain Light House. Settlers’ Watch is a beautiful garden and sculpture area in the oldest neighborhood in Lorain. It was known both as the Black River Settlement and then Charleston Village. The project was not planned but came about because the local utility had to cut down 19 trees in the neighborhood. The Portside Chairperson for the Charleston Village came up with the idea of carving the...

Sep 22, 2006 - Flying through Indiana, Ohio, and MIchigan

We are flying through Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan to get to Niagara Falls. Did some research on Ohio because at one point I was interested in this state but couldn't sell it to "J" ;0) so since we are not seriously considering it and there is nothing that I particularly want to see, we decided to just go straight to the falls.

Aug 19, 2006 - Amherst, Ohio

**** No photos**** Saturday, August 19, we arrived in Amherst, Ohio, west of Cleveland, Ohio. It was about a four-hour drive. The campgrounds had some lengthy instructions to get there and we came in from a different direction, so we had to rely on the GPS system to get us there. It was an old, sort of run down campgrounds but we were only staying the one night anyway. They were having a Murder Mystery Weekend and they told us not to call the police if we saw anything strange. The only thing we saw or heard was sirens a couple of times and...

May 22, 2006 - Cleveland

On Friday we arrived at our first stop in the Cleveland area, North Ridgville, Ohio and the Crystal Springs Campground. This is our opportunity to visit with my sister and brother and their families. On Sunday I ran in the Cleveland Marathon. It is an excellent route with views of Lake Erie, all of Cleveland's sports venues, several interesting neighborhoods, Case-Western Reserve University, and the east side park running from the university to the lake. The day started out rainy and finished sunny but windy. It was chilly throughout the...

Jan 6, 2006 - It is Really Happening! Brecksville Retirement Party

With the hoopla of the holidays behind us, we found retirement coming at us like a speeding train. During all the months of planning and scheming it seemed that we were talking about someone else's lives, reality brought it home to us during the first week of January. Dick's last week of work was understandably filled with mixed emotions. We had a lovely luncheon with his co-workers of 25 years at Avon Lake on Thursday. On Friday there was a very nice reception in Brecksville, after which the Wolfs, Krupps and my sister Sue joined me to...

Jun 9, 2005 - LAST PHOTOS and THE END

We're home now. It'll take days to unpack and get back to our "at home" life. My art classes started last week so I'm already behind. The house is stacked with everything that needs put away. The weeds are high. The temperature is higher. And the laundry reaches the ceiling! Oh my goodness. Well, I've included pictures of family we got together with on the trip, but I can't finish up without letting you see the rest of them. So, Rob is not in the "family business," he has one of his own, so he doesn't go to our conference. Skye and Beau...
