Jul 16, 2012 - And then we went crazy
Our last week in West Virginia had a strange turn of events, I blame it on the heat, it had to be a case of temporary insanity, unfortunately we both went crazy at the same time……we got a dog. I have been the voice of reason for the last couple of years, always convincing Bob that we didn’t need a dog but this time when we saw the cutest little thing in a cage at a flea market, I caved in. It was so hot at the flea market and the puppies looked very unhappy. Our puppy did seem very pleased with the fact that we have air-conditioning. We are...

May 7, 2011 - More Amish Stuff
The knees were tired today so we passed on going to the Amish Flea Market - darn! Instead, we decided to find the nearest store and replenish groceries. We stopped at the office to get directions. The gal in the office was born and raised in the house next door to the RV park. She lived in Florida for a while but missed the peace and serenity of country living, so she happily returned to Amish country and got a job here at the RV park. -- The nearest Wal-Mart it turns out is about 20 miles from here. On the way, we stopped at a highly...

May 6, 2011 - A Trip Back In Time
The weather guessers said we could expect rain to move into the area this afternoon, but this morning, it was glorious outside; a perfect day for exploring. This is the third Amish community we have visited and one of the things we enjoy the most, is exploring the back roads, where the Amish people actually live. The little towns along the main highway through Amish country are filled with small shops offering all kinds of homemade goodies and those shops are fun to explore, but we wanted to take a drive through the countryside today. -- On...

May 5, 2011 - Amish Country, Ohio
Sunshine at last! Today was a beautiful, sunny day with blue sky!!! We almost forgot what that was like. It was a travel day today and it was another gorgeous drive. -- We started out on the interstate where we hit patches of fog over rivers which made for some interesting pictures. Once we got to the capital, Columbus, we wanted to head east on a smaller highway. I had the map in front of me, giving John step by step directions as we entered downtown Columbus. We were looking for Highway 670 off of the interstate - ok, no problem, but...

May 28, 2009 - Evergreen Park RV Resort
This morning we drove from Buckeye Lake, OH to Dundee, OH, another short trip, about 100 miles. It was a great day for traveling. The campground we picked is one of the best ones we have been to so far on our trip north from Alabama. The park is clean and neat and the showers are to die for. There is a glass enclosed indoor pool and hot tub area, and also exercise and game rooms. After we got set up we drove around the area and found a lot of neat stuff. One of the places we stopped at was Sol’s Exchange that was a couple of large buildings...

Sep 21, 2007 - Ohio
We are now at Evergreen RV Park in the middle of the Ohio Amish community. This park is fabulous! It is very clean and has awesome amenities. After getting settled in, we spent some time in their beautiful indoor pool and hot tub. Our timing was perfect as we had the area to ourselves for most of our swim. I almost had to call someone to share my joy when I walked into the ladies room and saw the big private baths complete with "rain-shower" style shower heads! After a LONG shower, we grilled steak and enjoyed the evening breeze for a...

Jul 12, 2007 - Dundee, OH
We arrived in Dundee, Ohio today which is in the heart of the Ohio Amish community. We are staying in a very upscale park, Evergreen RV Park. They have lots of amenities at the park such as pool tables, rec room, exercise facilities, pool and spa,... We ventured out into the community to intermingle with the Amish who really are somewhat of an odd lot. Beth was so fascinated by these people that she bought two books on the subject and is now our very own Amish expert. We ate Amish food which consisted of chicken, mashed taters, corn, and...
