Apr 26, 2013 - Cleveland, OH

This morning we had to be up around 5:30 to have our RV in Elkhard, IN to have one of the drivers side windows fixed. We had the RV there by 7:30, it was going to take a couple hours so we went to breakfast at the Corner Cafe which is about 7 miles out of Nappanee. Then we went to the Newmar plant store and bought a few things we needed. We were on the road around 10:30. We took the Indiana turnpike which cost us $11.50, and then when we got into Ohio, we remained on the turnpike. Pretty much 80 all the way. The service areas in Indiana...

Aug 12, 2012 - Road to Richmond is getting shorter

All good things must come to an end......today is their last leg of a very long trip. They started out Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio for the last 478 mile ride to Richmond. But boy what a ride. Friday they left Fairmont, MN in chilly weather headed to Milwaukee, WS. Leathers were required for this ride. Personally I don’t like them but they do serve a purpose! In Milwaukee they visited the Harley Davidson Museum - some very old Harley’s are on display. The style of the bike sure has changed over the years as the photos show. After check-in at...

Sturgis 2012

Aug 4, 2012 - Cleveland, Ohio

This was our first camping trip with friends Ken and Ann. We struggled to get the wheat combined before a planned trip to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We made the crossing at Fort Erie, which is one of our favourite border crossings. The traffic was heavy, and it seemed to take forever to arrive at the KOA at Streetsboro, just south of Cleveland. We toured the Hall and the travel bus of Johnny Cash. There was so much to see. Absolutely amazing!

Aug 4, 2012 - Cleveland, rocked.

Left Pennsylvania in the morning and traveled to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was charted territory for Clark, but a new endeavor for Lewis. The ridiculous amount of tie-dye let us know that the new exhibit was dedicated to the Grateful Dead. The next leg of our journey will take us to St. Louis

Lewis and Clark 2012

Jul 17, 2012 - rock and roll hall of fame

Rock and roll hall of fame today... Six floors of rock memorabilia and music. Plus traffic, heat, and confusing free way systems! Now we are finally back at the bus and basking in the air conditioning. We are staying at the American wilderness campground about 35 miles from Cleveland Ohio. Its is pretty nice, has almost full hookups, level spaces, and a man made swimming hole with a weird greenish blue tint, LOL. Tomorrow we are on our way to the bus rally in Loudonville.. more pictures to come.

Jun 28, 2012 - Sam's Entry: Water Falls and Water Falls

First thing today we went on the “Maid of the Mist”. It was a boat that took us right under Niagara Falls. Before we went on they gave us ponchos, so we knew that it would be wet. With the boat at top speed in front of Horseshoe Falls we didn’t move! That is how powerful the falls are. After that we ate breakfast at a restaurant called Perkins’, where I had to eat the kid’s meal again, it was ok. After packing we went to an awesome water park. They had a water slide that went down at very steep incline. I went down it and got airborne. I...

Jun 28, 2012 - Cole's Entry: Wet at the Falls

Today was cool as well. Although things started off rough, we didn’t have breakfast til late and my dad didn’t follow through on his promise of a granola bar because he was “busy”. Things still worked out though. We went on this boat called "Maiden of the Mist", and it took us right up to Niagara Falls! We had to wear ponchos because of the spray. It’s so amazing; the falls create their own microclimate! It is really windy at the falls; the ponchos were flapping like crazy! When we went to the Horseshoe Falls, the water was so strong, even...

Jun 18, 2012 - So this is Cleveland...

So...that was Cleveland?  Sorry for the no-blog last night!  I guess I took too long to save the page and the entire thing erased.  By the time all was said and done we had been up since 0530 and we were exhausted.  So now I am writing this in the car as we head to Chicago!    Yesterday we actually had a great day of travel considering how long of a first leg it was.  What did we see along the way? Well, from Norwalk to North Eastern Jersey we saw the Tappan Zee Bridge, Palisades mall and disgruntled drivers.  Beyond that, we saw farmland,...

Jun 2, 2012 - Cleveland Hopkins Airport

Neither Ashley or I slept a wink last night. We are excited but as Ashley said, "that's just the way we do it, Dad." Ashley's flight from Sandiego to Detroit will give her a chance to get about a four hour nap. I on the other hand have a 59 minute flight, but I get to Detroit 2 hours and 14 minutes before her so I'm going to find a spot and nap while I wait for her. We have such a long layover I suggested she just try to find me when she arrives, but she didn't want to play so I'm going to give her directions to my spot. About to board.

May 21, 2012 - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

I spent the entire day at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH. It's a really good museum and I enjoyed it. I spent a lot of time at the Beatles and Elvis exhibits. There are kiosks throughout the entire museum where you can listen to music through headphones. I listened to blues (like Leadbelly), country (like Hank Williams), and a lot of Rock! Unfortunately the museum doesn't allow photography so all I'll bring home is memories and a t-shirt. It was a day well spent.

Mar 30, 2012 - Start from home

Flying to Charleston from Cleveland Hopkins. The airline seems to think Philadelphia is on the way from Cleveland to Charleston so I went there first, with lay over it takes half as long to fly at 600+ miles per hour as it does to drive at 60. They kept trying to check my carry ons. I got them on the first flight because the center seat was empty. I got them on the second flight by pointing out I got them under the seat in front of me on the first flight to get there and they hadn't grown. She didn't want to but I showed the prior boarding...

Sep 19, 2011 - Around the World in 25 Days! - Day 1

This blog is aptly titled Around the World because that in essence is route I will be traveling on my excursion from Taiwan to Hong Kong and finally to Moscow. First off let me begin I am glad to be getting out of the country (USA) for awhile. Don't get me wrong its the greatest country on the planet but after traveling to some of the cities and seeing the egregious excess at which Americans can indulge in can be a little obscene at times. We as Americans live in a bubble. We are spoiled and don't know how easy we have it in this country....
