Jul 24, 2019 - Day 12

Our last full day in Cincinnati, we check out tomorrow. Our first stop today is the American Sign Museum. We had our breakfast, and were on the road a little before 10. We retrieved our car from a parking deck across the street from the hotel. An underground parking deck, it charges $32 for the day of parking. The required valet parking by the hotel is $35 a day. A penny here... The trip to the museum was, according to Miss Google, a nine minute trip. We got there pretty quickly, and found the museum in a warehouse type building in an...

Cross Country Train

Jul 23, 2019 - Day 11

Today we're moving on to Cincinnati. We had an early breakfast because the Home2 Suites hotels only serve breakfast until 9. Well, it did get us on the road earlier. Our first stop today was at the Hopewell Culture National Historic Site. The site is about 1.5 hours drive from the hotel. We got to the site at about 11 AM. The site is located in a relatively remote area about 30 miles north of Cincinnati. We drove up the entrance road, and to the visitor's center. There was no admission for the site, and we were told that there was a small...

Cross Country Train

Aug 15, 2018 - Cincinnati, OH

Wed, 15 Aug: A short drive today... After a week in the deserted Ohio State Fair RV park we finally have to get moving. We enjoyed our solitude with only the geese to keep us company (and keep us watching where we walk!) We got things ready for the road and connected the car. Checklist checked, brakes & lites checked, Bob rolled wheels out of the fairgrounds a few minutes past ten. A quick drive brought us to the I 71 south on ramp and we quickly joined the late morning traffic in downtown Columbus. In addition to many different junctions...

2018 Travels

Aug 5, 2018 - Indianapolis to Cincinnati to Indianapolis

Wonderful, wonderful day with family. We went to LePeep's for brunch. Then, spent the day playing with the youngest members of our family - Elise and Griffin. Aren't they precious?! It was so much fun. We played bubbles in the backyard, had a barbecue feast for dinner, and finished the night off with a cut-throat UNO game (Sara won!). Thanks to Jeff, Jackie, Andy, Ashley, Sara, Elise, and Griffin for showing us a wonderful day - we are VERY lucky!

Highway 127 Sale

Jun 13, 2018 - Liberty Township, OH.

11-Jun-18 Liberty Township, OH. We left the Lake Haven Retreat RV park at our usual time; 10 am. We are on our way to visit Tony and Karen, a couple we met on our Africa trip. My navigator indicated that it was 122 miles to their house and I e-mailed them that we would be there between 1 and 2. When we were within a few miles of their house and it was 11:50 am, we decided to stop for lunch. We found a home Depot and parked in their lot. Within short walking distance were several restaurants and shops plus a hospital; strange combination I...

Jun 5, 2018 - Wilmington TT 6/5--6/6 OH

Hello only two days here at Wilmington Thousand Trails as most Thousand Trails Park it's out in the country what about 40 miles from Cincinnati, it's a very nice Campground well taken care of and very nice hosts. Only 30 amp electric so we were only able to run one air conditioner. The one day that we had we went and visited Caesar Creek State Park 10 miles away and walked a 3-mile hike steep at times to Horseshoe Falls which was pretty dry from the pictures we've seen online but still beautiful in its own way. This Campground also had a...

THE GREAT LAKES LOOP

May 28, 2018 - Rain,rain And More Rain

I went by myself to a Geocaching in Cincinnati , Ohio that was to be the biggest Geocaching in the U.S.A. It was a lot of fun and it was great. We got rain ,rain and more rain, it was around 12 am that I could not sleep because of all the rain and started to drive back to Florida. I driving all night I got to Cordele,GA at a K.O.A. for the evening. It was still raining and I could...

Jan 28, 2018 - My Mom

This one is difficult to write. We arrived in Ajo on Friday the 18th. Larry and Grace fixed dinner for us that evening. And I left early the next morning to catch a flight to Cincinnati. We left 4 hours before the flight and still managed to get caught up in rush hour traffic, which added another 50 minutes to our drive. Don was more stressed than I was since I figured it was either sit in the truck or sit in the airport. And I still had plenty of time. I had a direct flight (a long 4 1/2 hours) and arrived in early afternoon. We went...

Oct 27, 2017 - Our last day

Well our last day has come and we are still trying to get Don's prescription issues resolved. He is out of meds, so I am back on the phone. This time I found someone who could get the correct script called in and we were in business! I thought. It was still not right when we went to pick it up, so the pharmacist and I were back on the phone. Meanwhile, we were planning to have dinner with Jeanne, Mike, Jen and Marc for our last night. I finally got a call that the prescription was ready, with just enough time for us to pick it up before...

Oct 26, 2017 - The week progresses

Tuesday was another hectic day, although we did get to sleep in a bit before it started. Then we drove over to visit with mama and run some errands before Jeanne was discharged from the hospital. We were just coming out of the local Kroger store when we ran into Mike and Jeanne coming through the parking lot. We met at their house where I was going to fix dinner. Jeanne's daughter in law Carolyn had left beef stroganof in the freezer so that was going to be dinner. Jeanne had told Mike that we could thaw it out when we got home so it was...

Oct 23, 2017 - Surgery day

This morning is the day for Jeanne's hip replacement surgery, but first we had to go to visit Mama to see how she was doing today. Good news! she was back to normal (whatever that is!) so we had a good conversation and visit, albeit short so we could get to the hospital for Mike and Jeanne. We got lost on the way there of course. The GPS in the truck froze up, then my phone with the maps app on shut off on its own. So we were blindly headed across a city we knew nothing about to a hospital we had never seen. But we did get to see a lot of...

Oct 22, 2017 - Mom

The next morning it was time to go visit my mom and to see Jeanne and Mike. We stopped by Jeanne's first to say hello and kind of make plans for the day. Then on to the memory care center where my mom lives. And my heart sunk when she was hard to waken and then did not know who I was. I was crushed and really had a hard time to keep from bursting into tears. Instead I tracked down the head nurse to figure out what was going on. We gave her some time, and still she did not know me. So we went back to Jeanne's for lunch, with plans to go back...
