May 14, 2012 - Russ and Bob shop for "our" RV

Russ started looking in Craig's List for potential buys. Then he and his friend Bob (who had owned RVs and knew a great deal about them) drove to multiple sites to actually physically check out the RVs that were listed. That was going well until, while on site, Bob got a call that there was a kidney ready for him and that he had to show up the next day for the surgery! So there went our Guru...out of commission for weeks...or so we thought! I don't think Bob had even been out of surgery for 3 days when Russ visited him at the hospital and...

May 14, 2012 - We need a name for our RV!

In no uncertain terms, the edict came down from our Alpha female Vicky that, since we had dubbed this voyage "The Trip of a Lifetime" we should have an appropriate name for our vehicle. Now you understand, these e-mails that came flying back and forth always cc'd the other sibs, so that no one would be left out. I came up with "Nasha Doma" which is "Our Home" , but I thought that was pretty lame. Vicky came up with "Reality Suspended" and "Nasha Delusion",and I thought those were the best! Then Olga came up with "Nasha Botchka" (Our Barrel)...

May 14, 2012 - Houston, we have a vehicle!

Now that we had a name, we just needed a vehicle. And that came on May 2, when Russ and Bob found one on Craig's list, and went to see it in Stark County, not far from me. They decided it was a "go". It was a 34-ft vehicle with relatively low mileage and in very good condition. It had a "bump out" on the driver's side and would be perfect for our use and after that to be Vicky and Fred's home each summer. May 5, 2012 - How it all started

First of all, the "Durakee"...all related...Brother Russ, Sister Vicky and her husband, Fred, sister Olga and me, Marn. Fred and Vicky live in FLA; the rest of us in OH. Olga and I visited Vicky and Fred for almost 3 weeks in March and had a wonderful, easy, happy time. We had asked Russ (and Marie, his lady friend) to join us many, many times. (They hadn't been in FLA since Vicky and Fred married in January of 2002.)This time, Russ decided to drive down alone and join us for the last 4 days of our visit. Well, we had a wonderful time...

May 5, 2012 - All of a sudden...

The next thing we knew, the phone lines were burning up between Russ and Vicky and the fire had started! Vicky spent hours and hours plotting a trip across country, doing a spread sheet of probable costs, comparing renting an RV and buying a used one and plotting potential gas and food and overnight stay costs. When I got my first version, my head swam: and I kept thinking, TMI, TMI, TMI...I can't handle it...oh please let me try to understand these figures.
