Oct 28, 2011 - Bowling Green, Ohio (Holiday Inn Express)

October 28/11 We started to head south to our winter destination, unknown at this time. We left Mike’s Mom's driveway going through the Sarnia border crossing. Being a Friday, the border was very busy with shoppers. It took an hour from bridge fee gate to border crossing. We drove through Toledo to Bowling Green, Ohio and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for the night.

Sep 4, 2011 - A Weekend With Friends

We are still moving south. For tonight we are in Bowling Green, Ohio at the local Walmart. We had planned a Walmart stay for last night in Perrysburg, but the weather did not cooperation. When we saw the forecast for 95 degrees, we checked ourselves into a KOA. There’s just no substitute for electricity sometimes. Our reason for stopping in Toledo was to visit long-time friends of mine. Once we got settled in the KOA, it was time to get down to some serious visiting. I hadn’t seen Denny and Judy since moving away from Toledo in 1981. Even...

Scratchin' the Itch

Jun 2, 2010 - Welcome to Ohio

Our last morning in Indiana Wednesday Middlebury, Indiana is a nice town and you don't want to leave it in a hurry. We took our time, running errands and stoking up on pancakes. When we finally left we headed east on Highway 20 for a ways, then dropped down to Highway 6. These roads go through farmland as pretty as it gets and they sure beat driving the Turnpike like the other RVs. Our destination is a KOA near Cleveland but we got too late a start to make it today. We settled for a 140 mile drive to Bowling Green, Ohio. We'll push on to...

On to the FMCA Convention After caravanning with our friends from Indiana for about 3 hours, we arrived at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. About 2500 RV’s will be parking in the lots by Monday, as we all gather for the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Convention. The official date for the start of the FMCA RV convention is Monday, but so many of us are here early that a few activities started early. There’s a lots to explore ahead of time, except that the campus is large and it’s a LONG way to walk from activity...

Jul 18, 2009 - Driving to Bowling Green, Ohio

Today was a travel day. Because we're headed to the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Convention where there will be thousands of RV'ers attending, our group was given a time to enter our parking area of 10am. As we were 3 hours away, that meant we had to get up REALLY early. We left Bremen, IN at 6:45am in the rain, stopped for fuel and we were on our way with Les and Suzanne as the Wagon Masters (leaders), Ed and Rose Mary in the center and Jay and I as Tail Gunners. It was an easy drive following U.S. 6 straight into Bowling Green...

Jul 18, 2009 - FMCA's 82nd International Rally

We've settled in a couple of days early here at Bowling Green State University for the 'Big One'. If things go as they have in the past we won't have much time for taking care of business. That means that this will probably be the last entry for a week or so. I'll try to post pictures here occasionally, that is if I can find the time around seminars, vendors, happy hours and nightly entertainment!
