We started seeing billboards advertising “Enchanted Highway” soon after leaving Medora. The Enchanted Highway is a collection of the world's largest scrap metal sculptures constructed at intervals along a 32 mile stretch of highway in the southwestern part of North Dakota. Artist Gary Greff conceived of, built it beginning in 1989, plans more sculptures, and maintains the project. Aug 17, 2009 - West Fargo, ND (Wal-Mart Parking Lot)

I started out with all the intentions of making it early to Fargo, ND, but I ran upon the Teddy Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. Amazing what he did for the country as a conservationist and started putting aside great tracks of land for preservation and use by the citizens. Spent about 3 hours, looking around and watched a large group of prairie dogs, saw at least 3 wild horses and a really huge bison sitting in the shade of a large rock overhang. This is where North Dakota gets its name as the "black hills". Just awesome the views...
