Jul 27, 2019 - Morden to Fargo

July 27 and 28, 2019 - Left Morden this morning and drove to Fargo, ND to spend a couple of days with our friends Ron and Linda Wolfe. They have a park model in VVV, so we usually see them in Mesa. Enjoyed spending time with them and seeing where they live the rest of the time. Had fun playing sticks!!

Jul 9, 2019 - Lake visit and Storms

The unpredictable thing about the Dakotas is the weather. Been warm, but also some serious rain and wind days. There's plenty of flooding and when the high winds kicked in we got pushed around a little. Been humid due to all the rain, and to add to that, we've been on tornado warning. You really feel the weather in a bus. But no damage, except small hail mark's, and nobody hurt. On a positive side, we haven't been idle. The Thomas family (Daughter Amanda's inlaws) were gracious enough to invite us to a gathering at their lake cabin. A...

Jul 4, 2019 - Fargo...

Good drive to Fargo. Had an appointment at Cummins for the annual oil change and lube. $600 and three hours later we headed to our campground behind the Days Inn Hotel in Casselton ND. Same place as last year. Its basic, but has a gym and indoor pool with a slide. We set up and boom... no power. I assumed they disconnected something to change the oil and filters, but all the power disconnects were not flipped. So I call Cummins, but its after 5. I call Cummins in California since its earlier, but they are no help. Finally while chatting...

Aug 12, 2018 - Continuing North

On the road about 7:30. Made it in the 4 hours google maps said it should take. Only took a couple of pit stops at rest areas. In and out in 5 minutes. The terrain just north of Minneapolis is rolling hills. 100 miles or so farther north it gets very flat. I'm talkin' Kansas flat. The only reason I couldn't see forever was because of a rather thick haze along the horizon. My first stop was the Fargo Air Museum which had rather odd hours on Sundays from 10 AM until 1 PM and was the reason I was trying to get here rather quickly. Spend a bit...

Jul 28, 2018 - Plays, parades and Pools

Still in the Fargo area. Went to see Hello Dolly at Trollwood. They did a great job and the grand girls seemed to have fun. Today there was a parade and events in Casselton so of course we had to go. Lots of tractors and fire trucks. Blind Joe was playing guitar and singing on stage, which was fun. Then it was off to the Casselton public pool for a dip. Having twin 8 year olds climbing on ya in a pool can be a near drowning experience. But, I fooled them and survived. Now the swimmers are spending the night in the rig with us. We will see.

Jul 24, 2018 - More Fargo

Hung out around the reservoir riding bikes and planning my attack on the fish. There are tons of sunflower fields here compared to the corn we previously passed through. On another topic; we have been asked for more info and pics of our un-named bus.... It is a Tiffin Alegro Bus. A little over 40 feet long. 8 foot 5 wide closed and the slde outs on both side open it up to almost 12 feet. It's about 13 feet tall so it won't fit in a standard garage, but does fit under most bridges.

Jul 21, 2018 - Fargo' First Day

Arrived in Fargo in time to park in the Walmart lot (our camping site won't be avaliable until the following day). Enjoyed a fantastic steak BBQ at our Daughter Amanda's house. Played with the grandkids and there was even birthday cake. We spent the night in the rig at the Walmart. We weren't the only overnighters there. It was a popular lot. Woke up and headed to Fleet Farm. What an awesome store. They have everything. Wish I needed a tractor. Anyway, we relocated to Governor's RV and it's not too bad. We do have access to their indoor...

Sep 22, 2017 - North Dakota

We drove through Minnesota and saw lots of lakes. Very pretty state. We hurried to North Dakota. We found a small RV park southwest of Fargo, ND and on the edge of federal land. Lots of walking and horse trails to enjoy. The park had stalls you could put your horses in. They also sold hay for the horses and fire wood. The camp was on the honor system. You had a sheet of the prices and you marked down how many days and if you bought anything and put in an envelope and dropped in their mail slot. They offered very clean bathrooms with...

Aug 22, 2017 - On to Fargo ND

Another long day. It's our last 500 mile day, after this we plan to try for 300-350 miles per day. Today we finally leave Montana. We traveled across most of North Dakota. We stayed at a nice city park on the Red River. North Dakota/Minnesota border. Lindenwood park. We once again we went in search of fuel. Had a great dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Sleeping was a little difficult because we were very close to the freeway.

Aug 12, 2017 - Fargo ND

The trip from Bismarck to just west of Fargo didn’t go quite as planned, but we persevered and found a place to live for 2 nights. We had visions of staying in a city campground in Buffalo, North Dakota so we got to their exit about 45 minutes west of Fargo, turned north for 3 miles, weaved through the dirt roads of the tiny town only to find all 8 spots in their campground full. Hmmm. Now what? Well, we pushed on closer to Fargo and found a dusty, not-so-nice park which is part of the Days Inn at the Casselton exit that will do for a short...

Jul 29, 2017 - Fargo ND

Sat, 29 Jul: Continuing north (so, why is it getting warmer???) Despite the heat in Brookings SD we enjoyed a fairly restful nite. Around Happy Hour time we started the generator and turned on our air conditioner. It started cooling the coach down and we also had plenty of electricity to "nuke" some left over hot wings for dinner. By bedtime it was in the low 70s in and hi 70s out. We turned off the a/c & generator, then opened bedroom windows and ran the salon vent fan. This moved outside air in which made it comfy enough for sleeping. In...

Jul 10, 2017 - North Dakota, You Betcha!!

After a fun week in Dickinson, North Dakota we traveled a mere 110 miles to Lake Sakakawea State Park. Whenever possible, we love camping by water and we were fortunate to get a spot there as this is a very popular place, especially on the weekends. Lake Sakakawea is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the nation with a surface area of about 368,000 acres and is 178 miles long. It was created in the 1950’s when the Garrison Dam was built. The park and lake were named in honor of Sakakawea, the Native American woman who accompanied...
