Jun 19, 2011 - Week 4 update; Touring the south

What fun! Spent some time with my brother in Florida, picked up Ann in Tallahassee on the 16th, then met with our friends, Doug and Barbara (D&B), in Alabama. Everyone is so polite in the south: 'Yes sir', 'no ma'am', 'Yes thanks Miss Ann', etc. God, country, family, neighbors.... are all very much part of the fabric of the bible belt. And they treat strangers like neighbors. You can barely travel a mile without either seeing an American flag or a church. D&B leave their house open and keys in the cars in case a neighbor needs something....

Jul 13, 2010 - Crossville, TN to Robbinsville North Carolina

Crossville Tennessee to Robbinsville North Carolina 206 miles (total trip miles 6,503) It’s raining when we get up so we bum around and try to figure out what to do. If it’s going to rain all day we’ll find another hotel with a pool and relax for the day. First I want to get an oil change, the last 3,500 miles have been hot and hard on the bike and I would feel better getting the bike serviced. We drive to the Harley shop 30 miles west on Route 40 to Cookeville and get the oil changed, we have a slight drizzle most of the way there, it...
