May 1, 2013 - RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads
Another day and another border crossing. Back in N Carolina now and heading south. Thru the Hampton Roads/Norfolk area with its tunnel/bridge combination and viewing the world's largest Naval base. Lots of firepower there for sure. Rolling countryside of Southern Virginia and into N Carolina. Have 6 days to go 165 miles so will have to pick up the pace lol. See the north in areas is getting a good whack of snow, ouch for first of May. Still seeing Canadians heading north from Florida. Lots of talk of gas taking a big drop down here we are...

Apr 18, 2013 - RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads & Question 2
Moved on down the road a bit today as we inch our way towards Richmond, said good bye to more new friends we have made, and continue to run into people from Quebec and all their nuances, enuf said but would like to say more. Got the rig washed along with bike trailer so didn't get any exploring done today perhaps tomorrow. Main reason for tonight's posting is next weeks questions hope you all enjoy the hunt. The questions has four parts. 1. How many consecutive sellouts has Richmond Intl Raceway had? 2. How tall is the scoring tower at...

Left in the morning from Columbia, in the rain on I-20 and picked up I-95 North. Stopped at a Harbor Freight Tools Outlet at their Distribution Center. It was huge and Lillie made me leave after about an hour and $73. :) Headed North towards Virginia.

Jan 2, 2013 - North Carolina
334 miles. We had a great day driving - finally left the snow behind! It was really crazy going around DC. So glad we had the GPS, paper maps and google maps. And it was still difficult! But we made it and the roads calmed down alot south of DC. We are staying just over the state border tonight at "The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads". It is a very new park and not far off the highway. They even have a fenced-in dog park so Terra could have some off-leash time this afternoon. Mike liked the sign when we pulled in: "Yes, you can wash your...

May 15, 2012 - Roanoke Rapids, NC
Hope all of you Mothers out there had a great day Sunday! We are now in Roanoke Rapids, NC - as the kids said - where the heck is that. We had only passed through here ourselves traveling north and south on 95. The only thing we know so far is that it is an old mill town and there are lakes around with good fishing. Our stay in Savannah was great, jobs were good, weather was excellent and we had our fill of shrimp and oysters. Our first park was about 10 miles SW of Savannah. The Old Town Trolley did a daily run into Savannah leaving around...

Oct 28, 2011 - On the road again!
We (Winnie and I, lest there be any confusion) got out of town just in time with the first snow of the season (?) due to arrive Saturday night. This is a pretty ambitious trip as it takes us to Jacksonville, FL and then on to Fremont, CA. It’s mostly a working trip, but Sue will join us in California on November 18 for a short trip to San Diego to visit an old (not meant in a disparaging way) high school friend. We’ll be giving thanks for our family, health and blessings in San Diego before Sue jumps on a plane to return home and to school....

We stopped at Pedro's South of the Border for Lunch. We found a nice picnic spot and ate. After lunch we walked around and did some shopping. . The kids had ice cream too. After Pedro's, we drove on to the RV Resort @ Carolina Crossing. Mom had a headache all day. Trey had a raging toothache, and our truck poured black smoke from the tailpipe all trip.( the EGR Valve, most likely) The campground was nice and new. The kids had fun at the pool playing on the slide and playing mini golf. Mack drove 684 miles/ 15 hrs total this day. $200.00...

Jan 19, 2011 - Heading South Again
Traveling up and down I95 over the last 10-15 years (mostly ice hockey trips), the intersection of I95 and I695 north of Baltimore has been under construction continuosly. Today I noticed all the fly-overs are complete and most of the barriers have been removed. I wonder when they'll start repairing it. In contrast the section of I95 just across the Potomac in Virginia is still seeing major work. I don't think I've ever been through this area without construction underway. When I arrived at Camp Walmart in Roanoke Rapids,NC (this is the 3rd...

Feb 7, 2010 - RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads
We got up early (6 AM) to break camp and take a few preliminary steps needed to get the RV ready for winter again. Jeff drained the water heater while Sandy gathered all the liquids and finished putting away everything for traveling. With the RV winterized, we left Savannah KOA at about 8:00 AM on an overcast and cool (44 degrees F) day. We arrived at the RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads about 3 PM. We had supper in the RV (we still can't unhitch the truck to go out). After supper (hot soup and bread sticks) we packed as much as we could...

Jan 28, 2010 - Next AM: Carolina Crossroads Campground
It is the next morning and we were breaking camp to move on when Jeff discovered that one of the two front electric jacks that raise and lower the front of the trailer overhanging the truck was stuck and wouldn't go up or down. We ended up calling an RV road service we belong to (sort of AAA for RVs). They finally showed up around 11:30 AM. Unfortunately our bad luck is still with us. They are unable to fix the jack and we can not move the truck/trailer with it stuck in this position. We are suppose to be meeting friends at Walt Disney...

Jan 27, 2010 - 1st Night: Carolina Crossroads Campground
We arrived at the RV Resort Carolina Crossroads around 4 PM today. We started to get the RV ready for the evening and all was going along well until about 4:30 PM. Jeff had decided to de-winterize the RV's water heater and had gone outside to start the process. Just a few minutes later he came in bleeding heavily from the top of his head. He forgot the bedroom slide was out and slammed his head right into the very sharp edge on the bottom of the slide. After the bleeding slowed down we drove over to the nearest medical facility (about 2...

Jan 10, 2010 - 1st Stop ~ Roanoke Rapids NC
So ~ We drove for a few hours and got to Roanoke Rapids NC. It was our first experience with parking and setting up our coach. Since it was a flat field, we really didn't have any problems and the pull-through concept is strictly genius. We met a wonderful couple that was heading to the Miami RV show. They were coming from Philadelphia and had been RV-ing for some time. We spoke for a few minutes and off they went. I can tell that we are going to meet many more great people on our travels.
