Yesterday, for National Trails Day, we headed to Pilot Mountain for a day hike. There was a charity bike ride at the park and so a lot of traffic and parking delays at the summit, so we hiked up along the Mountain Trail. We parked at the southern end of the Mountain Section of the park at the Corridor Trail parking lot and started our hike. The trail starts at the southern part of Pilot Mountain and makes it way up the mountain going in a clockwise direction. Jul 31, 2011 - Hiking at Pilot Mountain
After Hanging Rock, we headed to Pilot Mountain for more hiking. We parked at the visitor center and hiked up the Grindstone Trail to the parking lot at the summit. We stopped at the Little Pinnacle Overlook to take pictures of Pilot Mountain, then hiked the Jameokee Trail around the Big Pinnacle and took the Ledge Springs Trail back to the Grindstone Trail and back to the visitor center. Jan 13, 2001 - 1986 January 2 - Pilot Mountain State Park
Today I went with Allen and Bonnie Tate, their girls and Allen’s friend, Claude Cranford, to Pilot Mountain State Park. Allen and Claude are avid photographers. I was experimenting with various camera settings to compare results. It was a good experience for me. They gave me some good tips.
