Nov 4, 2009 - Long Bunk and Mount Sterling Trails

Two more trails have been colored in on my Smokies map. We got an early start this morning, leaving the house at 6:15 for the hour drive to the Mount Sterling Trailhead. The portion of this drive which is in North Carolina is along a very bad, narrow dirt road. We were surprised at the number of people we met along that road at the crack of dawn this morning. Jun 30, 2009 - Back to the future- Cataloochie Valley, North Carolina

(4092) Hey all you guys!!! Just wanted to update the travel log here. We are only a few weeks away from our auto tour of the East Coast up to Maine. We are getting the rental car and hotels lined up for a 14 day marathon trip that will take us through most of the New England states. Our travel companions on this trip will be Bud and Helen Hodge of Maryville. This will make about six (6) trips we have taken together over the last 10 or so years. May 18, 2009 - Day Trip to Cataloochie Elk Refuge

(4,028) Hello to All, Just wanted to update our travel journal with a day trip we made this past week over to North Carolina, to the Mt. Sterling area of the Great Smoky Mountains. Chris, and I have been very interested in visiting this end of the GSMNP for years, but never took the time to drive over there. In my childhood, my Dad used to take us to this end of the park everytime we visited the National Park.
