Jun 5, 2012 - TTN Forest Lake, Lexington, N.C.
Another fabulous easy drive of only 205 miles brought us to Thousand Trails Forest Lake near Lexington, N.C. Rebecca drove the first 105 miles leaving Dave the last part coming into the preserve and parking the rig. It rained and drizzled most of the way. While here our only goal is to tour the Reynalda House, previous estate home of R. J. Reynolds of the tabacco industry magnate.Jump to full entry
Nov 28, 2011 - RV Maiden Voyage on the way home adventures
Here we GO, we left at 3 am and I am asleep in the bed with the Pups. After a late night with my mother-in-law, which is where we are officially calling 'HOME-BASE', and AFTER 2 BOTTLES of wine and many little warm and cozy Frangelico sippers by the fire, of course I am still asleep in the RV. I heard nothing but a rattle of a chain while my driver secured the tow-hitch. HEAVY headed and wiped out I announced to my husband of my wonderful evening and that I would probably be hung-over ALL DAY. YUCK The RVing guide to WHAT NOT TO DO IS...Jump to full entry

Oct. 16 - 25 Forest Lake TT - Advance, NC Beautiful drives, laid-back lifestyle, NASCAR, and Barbecue. North Carolina definitely has the southern style. Such beautiful country with the hardwood forests and rivers. You an see why the people who live here take pride in their state. We didn’t get a chance to make it to the coast this time. But we liked what we saw while we were here. Our Forest Lake Preserve started out things on a positive note with a nice resort in a wooded setting of rural NC. The trees were just starting to show their...Jump to full entry
Oct 6, 2009 - Lexington, NC
Here we are in Lexington, NC staying at High Rock Lake Marina & Campground. We're here until Friday to enjoy some NC style BBQ and I'm going to PIG out! The CG is OK... kinda tight for big rigs and the entrance road was a one way road. Would have been a problem if someone was wanting to come out! I would not stay here again in my 40 footer. Just too tight for me.Jump to full entry

It's a short, actually a MUCH shorter drive here from Augusta, Ga if you go straight North instead of over to Atlanta (on the freeway) and up I-85 (a freeway). We took the backroads, we like the old highways, and saved about 5 hours or more time. Heck we saved more than that if you count rattled nerves, more diesel, bumps and lumps in the freeways, breaks from driving, etc. You've no doubt have discovered by the lines on the map that the mapping system doesn't show YOU, good reader, the route we've taken to get here, just that we are here....Jump to full entry
