Apr 17, 2013 - Knoxville To Greensboro
The physical feature on my body that I dislike the most is my nose. Now there is twice as much of it to be unhappy about. When I returned to the hotel after dinner I tripped on the curb and fell. Minor scrapes and bruising except for my nose. Apparently it made contact with the cement, the eyeglass dug into the bridge of the nose, and now I have a fat nose and a black eye. People always say to me -"drive safely" - now they will have to say "walk safely". I had breakfast with Kate and then left Knoxville for Johnson City . I had two reasons...

Jun 16, 2012 - One More Mountain Story
We delivered our beer and waited for the next adventure. Picking up in Winston-Salem, NC going to Tracy, California. It doesn't deliver until Wednesday.....it was Friday (basically a solo load) but our dispatcher set it up so we can drop it early at our yard in Stockton, CA not far away. This time we went the southern route into California, going across I-40. It's less mountainy (is that a word?)and we get better fuel mileage. It was a nice, light load of Cover Girl Make-up! We are often asked what is the most frightening experience we...

May 24, 2012 - Day trip to NC
From home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia ... Thursday, May 24, 2012 We had a busy day. Our day began at 7:30. We went to Weight Watchers to weigh in. (Yep, we're back at THAT again.) We decided not to stay for the meeting today since we had plans to go to Greensboro, NC to do a little shopping. We drove in a nice rain switching from light to drizzly most of the way to NC. We arrived just in time for lunch. We were pretty hungry since we hadn't had anything to eat yet. So of course we opted for lunch at PF Chang's. We eat there...

Aug 28, 2011 - Day 48: Running from Irene
Subtitled: 10 States in 2 Days When we found a notice on the bath house door in Wompatuck State Park that informed us the campground was closing, we really knew it was time to leave! Obviously I-95 wasn't a good choice, so we looked for another route. We did use part of 95 but I-78 and I-81 brought us into North Carolina. The worse part of the drive was Friday when we came through Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey... areas that are always bad, but with all the tourists fleeing the area as well as some people leaving early to avoid...

Jun 12, 2011 - Burlington, NC - Visit our Son's family
June 2-3, 2011We left home and headed for Greensboro NC to get to an RV park so that we could visit our son and family for about a week. The trip was smooth (which is always good) and the weather hot and clear. We will be traveling between Burlington, NC and the camp as we spend time with the kids. It is about a 20 mile drive but the camp is the closest that is in the area to accommodate our rig. June 3-12, 2011This week we spent with our son and family in Burlington, NC. We had a great time as we watched our youngest grandson who is eight...

Dec 23, 2010 - Watched Tangled, Returned Rental Car, Played Games
Today Sarah's family and I watched Tangled, a highly-enjoyable Disney version of Rapunzel. Afterwards I returned my rental car (bye bye, Mercury Milan). Then Sarah and I played banana grams. We ate pizza for dinner and then proceeded upstairs to play Mad Gab and Guesstures. Also, I played some games with Reagan. What I have enjoyed from the first day I met Sarah's parents is the sense of belonging that I have felt. Even though I am not part of the family, I feel welcomed and accepted.

Aug 29, 2010 - Shoe Shopping in Greensboro, NC
From Home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia … Sunday, August 29, 2010 Today was a beautiful day. Although it did reach 90 degrees, the humidity was low. We started our day with a soak in the hot tub … very relaxing. Believe it or not, we actually decided to take a mini road trip today. I have been intending to travel to Greensboro, NC, about 80 miles from here, to go shoe shopping. I still need some shoes to go with my dress for Alexis and Matt’s wedding. We had a great breakfast as we made French toast with the Challah bread Dad...

May 29, 2010 - Greensboro / ACC Tournament
Grandson, Thomas, and his Georgia Tech baseball team return to NC for the ACC Tournament in Greensboro. Accompanied by good friends, Anne & Buddy Turner, we enjoyed several days of quality college baseball and spend some time with Thomas and his good friend & roommate Jeff Rowland. The beautiful stadium is home to the local minor league team ~ the Grasshoppers. It is also home to the amazing baseball dog, Babe Ruth. Babe is a black lab owned by the team's General Manager. He sits behind a protective screen with his master until called to...

Aug 24, 2009 - Eastbound Again
Pulled up stakes at Lewis's house this morning. Got back up on I-40 and headed east. Found a nice campground just outside of Greensboro. Tv reception is great. Lot is almost level. Life is GOOD. Had dinner at an OCharley's. We don't come across them too often.

Jun 11, 2009 - Maggie Valley, NC to Greensboro, NC
We contacted my brother, who had just returned from San Diego. He was on his way to work in Greensboro, NC. We looked at a map and saw that he was 170 miles away, so drove east and joined him for lunch and a quick update on his family. We toured the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Building and he gave us a quick overview of the technology of game review for referees. We've been unsuccessful in contacting my niece and nephew who live in Charlottesville. Kaye, my niece is due to deliver her second boy on June 29th. Since we couldn't be sure...
