Jul 15, 2011 - Welcome to Raleigh-Durham North Carolina

Back on the road for the drive to Raleigh-Durham area. We are planning to check out Cary, North Carolina. It is rated #23 in Money Magazine Top 100 places to live. The weather is dramatically different than our travels so far. The sun is shining and it is warm but there is very little humidity and there is a lovely breeze. Bill says it reminds him of Portland on a beautiful day. There are pine trees and other flora and fauna that are similar to our area. At 10:15 we arrive and decide to boondock at the local Lowe's. Nov 5, 2010 - On the edge in NC

Here we are literally on the geographic edge between piedmont foothills and the coastal plains. Once camp is set, we try not to let too much grass grow under our feet. Aug 19, 2009 - Pigeon Forge, TN and Knoxville, TN too!

Started the day waking up to rain in Pigeon Forge, TN but it was still a beautiful and fun town! We definitely want to go back very soon and stay longer since there were so many really cool attractions. Found out we had two nails in our back right tire so spent most of the morning trying to track down a place with a new tire for us. The only place within a few hours drive with the correct tire was in Knoxville, TN so we headed there but not until we got to ZORB first! It was wet, wild, and fun!! I think I screamed the whole way down the...

Dec 18, 2008 - Detour East

I'm back! Whatever the cyber glitch, all is well with this site today. Thank you to the support staff of the trip journal. We are on the last leg of returning to family for the holidays. The trip has been a smorgasbord of terrain, elevation, and weather. We chose the southerly route-staying under the wintry weather. By 0'dark:30(5:30) we were on the pavement heading east, calling it a day in Eagle Rock, TX. I had to chuckle at Corky-Texas is a BIG state with long desolate stretches in between civilization. He was so hungry by 8:00PM, he ate...
