I found a treasure of a store today shopping just down the road from our campground. The store is Tatums Interior Design. Before I left the store, I had arranged for them to mail 4 boxes back home. It will be like Christmas with all those goodies waiting to be unpacked when we return from our trip! ************* On our way to Blowing Rock we stopped at Julian Price Park for a picnic. Jul 24, 2011 - Mast General Store in Valle Crucis

After breakfast at the Banner Elk Cafe, we headed over to Valle Crucis to stroll through the Mast General Store before Ronnie and Joel headed back home. Let me tell you a bit about this place. The original Mast General Store was founded in 1883. It has well worn oak floors, glass-fronted showcases, wooden nail bins, coffee barrels, splay-toed rakes, beehives, wire fly swatters and assorted candies in wooden barrels, although it is no longer penny candy. Jul 23, 2011 - Banner Elk

We met our neighbors from Tallahassee, Florida, Bobby and Sharon Sarvis. Joel and Ronnie came to visit and spend the night. I took photos of the cute bride and groom to be at the Sleepy Hollow covered bridge. I loaned them my new hat just to add a little variation. They BOTH looked good in it!

Nov 25, 2009 - Travel Day

Well it's 5:05 in the morning and getting ready to head north west to cold weather.Have a new gps to try out.Looking forward to finally getting to finish the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Blowing Rock.Headed towards the mountains this fine morning.Weather is good and the roads are dry.Driving up 321 was great.First mountain road Bev & I took after we bought this Bus 3 years ago.Gps was interesting,Gps wanted to go one way and Bev the other.Well hope everyone has a Great Thanksgiving.

Oct 26, 2008 - Grand Father Mountain,NC

Before we head back home to sunny Florida we decided to check out Grand Father Mountain. We stayed at the Valle cruis bed and breakfast. It was 54* day and 41*at night. The inn keeper Damien was nice and were from Chapel Hill. We ate at the Red Onion down the road that was across from the University. We saw the swinging bridge at Grand Father and the colors were changing into fall which was pretty. We enjoyed the B@B but the walls were really thin, but they did have a nice fireplace our room.
