Jul 30, 2019 - More D&H Canal and O&W RR

On my way home this week, I took a left off of Rte 209 in Wurtsboro to see its main street. I came upon a park for the D&H Canal with a trail on the towpath after the little picnic park. Turns out I parked in front of what used to be the toll collectors' office from 1856 to 1898. It is now an apartment building with at least 2 apartments in it. I have to have seen the extent of the canal by now! We have walked the canal by the museum in High Falls years ago. Further down the street was a parking lot for the O&W rails to trails path. I had...

May 14, 2012 - It was one of "those" days

We arrived at Tom Shaeffers RV Center in Shoemakersille, Pennsylvania at 7:45AM. Aaron, the Service Advisor was already at his post, ready to check us in. Yes, he was concerned about all of our perishable food in ice chests. He managed to work us right in to their more than full schecule. It's nice when businesses have concern about your issues, even when they are already busy. He assigned Bob to our motorhome and in moments he was directing us to the side of the service building where he could begin to assess our refrigerator problem. We...

Dream On

Aug 28, 2010 - Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome

To begin the day on the 27th, we overslept and didn’t wake up until about 8:30. That certainly meant that we wouldn’t have an early start, because we had a lot to do to tear down our spot at Hanscom AFB and C.J. wasn’t there to help. We slowly got everything done and finally left about 11:30. Our first challenge came when we were put on a truck detour in Framingham, MA. This detour was on a narrow, winding road which should never see a truck. That delayed us some. We finally got on I84 and headed into Connecticut. Listening to the truckers...

Aug 22, 2008 - Wurtsboro, NY

We will stay here for a couple of weeks. The Catskill campground is located about 70 miles NW of NY City. As the warm days have passed we have seen the leaves starting to show a little color. Where has the time gone. A day trip to Florida, NY led us to William Seward's home. Often called Seward's Folly, he proposed the purchase of the Alaskan Territoy from Czar Alexander II of Russia in 1867. The cost was $7,200,00, just a few cents per acre. And we all know what a buy that was!

Hi Everybody, I just can't believe it, how can just two people have so many "happenings" in just 4 days. But then again, not everybody lives with my sweet Timmy. We're thinking this is great, now Tim will have all day on Wed. to rest up and relax before starting work on Thurs. and Fri., you know what's coming up, 2 ½ hours of commuting...

Hi Everybody, Well we have finally made it out of Ohio and are now in Wurtsboro, NY, at a really nice place called Catskill Mountains Resort.
