Jun 29, 2016 - Day 5 - Back in the USA

This was our last night in Canada. It was raining when we got up, so we ate at Denny's that was attached to the motel and then dressed in Rain gear as it looked like we would catch up to the rain even though it had stopped in our location. We took the St Lawrence River route through Fort Henry and across the Farm land to get to the Border Crossing. Had to pay at the Toll booth in Canada, cross one Bridge, and then go through Customs and finish going on another Bridge to continue on our journey. We were right at Thousand Islad area and there...

Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen NY Here it is 6:45pm with an outdoor temperature of 67 degrees as the sun sinks and the trees surrounding us make it seem a lot later than it really is. It has been an absolutely gorgeous day here in the Finger Lakes…again. Our day began rather lazily even though we were both up with coffee in hand around 6:30am. I again went to Curves around 7:30 and was back home by 8:30. We fixed breakfast using our pie iron…waffles with cooked and chipped bacon and then an egg. I...

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen NY Happy 8th Anniversary to Wade and Kristen! We have just had another FULL day of adventure. My day started out at Curves at 7am. It was really nice to get back to the exercise circuit. This was a busy place for such a small little village. By the time I got back home, Chuck had showered and was ready to start his day. We had breakfast and were soon out the door to head eastward over to the next of the Finger Lakes…Cayuga Lake. We drove through lots of vineyards and passed...

Monday, September 22, 2008 Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen NY What an absolutely gorgeous day we have had. We awoke to sunshine and cool, crisp temperatures with lots of sun! It has been a great day here in Watkins Glen. We did not really get going till around 10:30am as we lazily took our time about everything we did before then. It was definitely a day to get laundry done so we finally gathered all our things and headed to town to the Laundromat. This was the cleanest laundry facility I have EVER been in. You who have used such...

Sep 11, 2008 - Watkins Glen Gorge

Watkins Glen Gorge is another place where galaciers of long ago etched out valleys and the water melting filling the valleys to form the finger lakes and the Glen Creek formed the Gorge over the last 10,000 years. Another Wow place. Hope the pictures do it justice.

May 20, 2008 - Watkins Glen, NY

The ride on I-86 (Rte 17) in Western NY is pretty bumpy, like the interstates we drove across in Ohio. But there was no other way and we wanted to see Watkins Glen and visit at least one of the Finger Lakes. I've been on worse roads, but it gave Dolores a taste of travel in a motorhome and why I can't go as many miles as one might expect. We stopped at a rest center in Chautauqua and looked at the view and read the placards there. Our campground was at Watkins Glen State Park and we had fun picking which site to stay in. Almost all of them...
