Aug 29, 2015 - Travel Hell

Well I really pulled one today, was leaving Bowmansville, PA for Mansfield, MA, a long one day of 360 miles, so I had made reservations in Milford, PA, NE corner, and only 125 miles from Bowmansville. Well since it was a short trip, we left at 10:30, after talking with our neighbor for 30 minutes while trying to hook up. Went up the rode and decided we needed to gas up, could not find a truck stop so went into a large filling station with lots of room. Drove camper around a couple of pumps that did not have diesel and wound up next to an...

Oct 15, 2014 - Delaware Water Gap

Our second night on the road was spent just outside of Port Jervis, New York, in Milford, PA, at the north end of the Delaware Water Gap. As usual, the drives around Boston, Worchester, and Hartford were stressful due to heavy traffic and truly crazy drivers. But we made it intact, although a little frazzled. Thinking over our past trips, we can seldom remember a time spent in Pennsylvania when it wasn't raining; and this trip proved no different. As soon as we pulled into our RV park, torrential rain started and continued all night. We...

Jul 30, 2013 - Grey Towers with coworkers

We were advised that this homestead of a former Governor and Conservationist is worth a visit. We got in free because we are "park rangers"!! Emily drove Brittany and myself, and Ethan led the way. He had to go somewhere after our visit here. The house is impressive, and the grounds are too. The biggest thing I came away with was their "water table" where they had dinners with their distinguished guests. They sat in a portico (??) covered with wisteria vines at a stone table. This table had a pool in the middle and food was passed around in...

Jun 29, 2006 - Sydney, NY to Newburgh, NY

Even this morning we weren't sure how soon we would be able to get out of Sydney. Around 10:30, we went ahead and started back for Binghamton. The plan was to go south into Pennsylvania, before heading east at Scranton, PA, and back into New York. The plan worked, although we had a slight scare at one point when a clerk told us the road was closed at the state crossing in Port Jervis, NY. However, another clerk chimed in that only the exit was closed, the road still went through. We realized the delays would not permit us to go to Portland,...

Sep 6, 2005 - US Open, Flushing Meadows

We were amazed to be able to buy tickets for both the day and evening session at the US Open only the day before, and at a fairly reasonable price at that!! The day sessions included quarter final matches between Lleyton Hewitt v Dominik Hrbaty and Roger Federer v Nicolas Kiefer. In the evening it was the turn of the ladies with Maria Sharapova v Nadia Petrova and Kim Clijsters v Venus Williams. The evening matches ended up going on until 12.30am and a lot of people left early while the Clijsters-Williams match was still going on.....this...
