Jun 18, 2012 - North Tonawanda NY
We drove to the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum. The museum is housed in the original Allan Herschell Company Factory Building in North Tonawanda and has been celebrating the history of carousel and band organ (Wurlitzer Band Organs) for 28 years. Besides having carousel animals exhibited, their is a Kiddie Land exhibit which has a miniature carousel and other rides. They also have vintage Wurlitzer Band Organ used on their carousels, a Style 125 circa 1917 and a Style 146 circa 1925. They also have hundreds of hand punched paper tapes...

Aug 2, 2011 - We're 9 miles from the Falls!
Day 2, Woodland to North Tonawanda We finally got clear of Woodland around 11:45 a.m. We were obviously living in a fool’s paradise on the trip last fall, because now we are facing all the frustrations that new travel trailer owners face. Ron -Big issue: hot water! Ron finally figured out that the propane gas problem in the trailer was due to the hot water heater, which wanted him to light the pilot light so it could work. We finally managed to do it last night, then this afternoon we had the same problem again. Ron called Keystone and the...

Jul 31, 2010 - Day 141 - The Canadian side of the fury
Today was overcast all day so I wasn't able to shoot any rainbows over the falls...or get those magnificent cloud formations. Just blah. The SKY! Not the falls! Still, starting our with a ride on a carousel always guarantees a good day. Hunter and I did lots of walking. I wanted to get a picture with all of the falls in one photo and we walked as far as the parkway allowed and was just able to include both in one shot. The only hard part of the day...or I should say, uninspiring, was getting back to the USA from the Canadian side. It took...

Jul 30, 2010 - Day 140 - A place that one cannot forget
We left as late as we could from our Richfield Springs/Cooperstown RV park...I just didn't want to leave that place...and headed directly north to hit New York's Hwy 90 thru-way. From there it was a straight shot west to Niagara Falls where I paid my $35 toll for that privelege. I am staying in a neat and tidy, no frills park that sits behind a very sparce but clean 1950's motel. Fed Hunter, walked him til he did his business, then headed for the big water! We only explored the American Falls so tomorrow you know where we're going. But the...

May 29, 2009 - Bummer---NOT Headed off to Bath, near Corning, NY
Real bummer the leak in the MH turned out to be a steel tube that had to be ordered. So the MH will not be fixed and ready to go this weekend. So I called and canceled the reservations and we will adjust our plans. Plenty to do around the house. We were looking forward to the trip and meeting new people in the Holiday Rambler Club. Hope to get out for a weekend in June. Thanks for checking in. Bob

May 28, 2009 - Checking and Packing
Well the morning started with checking out the MH for the weekend trip. The radiator coolant was low, 3 gallons low. So I added it and then checked underneath and sure enough I had a leak. It looks like a crimp on a heater hose is bad. I called Colton RV and they had a mobile repair guy close by so about an hour later he pulled in. Put a hose clamp on to slow the leak and I drove the MH to Colton. They will look at it in the morning and hopefully be able to fix it so we can get to Bath by early evening. So for tonight I am at Elizabeths....

Apr 28, 2009 - Waiting on repair
Well the coach is still in the body shop. I hope to get word tomorrow to come and pick it up. I would like to get it home by Thursday night so I can get it ready to head for Indiana on Saturday morning. The last update I had was that they were putting the finishing touches on it. So hopefully I will be ready to head West come Saturday morning.

Apr 21, 2009 - Into the body shop
Well I got up early this morning and moved the coach to Colton RV to have the damage from hitting the garage roof fixed. They were kind enough to give me a ride home. The plan is to start on it this week and have it ready so that I can make it to the Rally in Goshen, IN on May 2nd.

Mar 28, 2009 - The MH is finally home
The day started early. We left around 9 am this morning from home to go and get the MotorHome. Elizabeth and Alexus had spent the night. On the way to Colton we had to stop at a Jewelry store to get some charms, however it was not open yet. So on to Elizabeths to pick up the license plates. Then a quick stop at Tim Hortons to pick up some coffee and donuts for the guys at the shop. Finally we arrived at Colton. The guys had fired up the refrigerator and furnance earlier in the day. It was toasty in the coach and cold in the fridge so we are...

Sep 1, 2007 - Saturday Errands
Today Barb and I slept later than usual so it was nearly noon by the time we went out to run our errands. Barb needed to call around to find someone who sells the type tire she needs. Finally she found that Colton RV, just down the street from the RV park, could get her one. She had to pay them for it up front, so that's the first place we went. The tire should be there by Tuesday morning. While we were there, I learned that I must have a supplemental braking system for my car. Otherwise, I can't take it into Canada. Anyone caught without...

Aug 29, 2007 - To Niagara Falls Area
This morning we got on the road around 10:00 and all was well until a few miles south of Buffalo when Barb's fifth wheel had a blowout. Her tires are only 14 months old! That's scary. We pulled over on the shoulder at an exit and she called her emergency service. A service man arrived about 45 minutes later and got the tire changed for her. Now she has to order another tire for a spare. We had stopped at the Eastern Pennsylvania Niagara Falls welcome center and bought tickets for three tours - nearly $300 per person! We had made...
