Jun 5, 2015 - Vermont to Grand Island, NY
6-5-15 Burlington, VT to Grand Island, NY Broke camp and pulled out at 9:45AM. Weather was great, which is good as we have a long trip planned today. Today’s first snafu was losing Julie. We left camp with me driving the Winnebago and Julie following in the Toyota since we needed to gas up. This is normally a simple process. She just follows me, we fuel up, then I stop somewhere where there is room to link up a 52’ rig that can’t back up. While winding through Burlington looking for the place to link up, I was watching a black truck behind...Jump to full entry
Oct 8, 2014 - The Falls of all Waterfalls ... Niagara
As you know, we've seen some beautiful waterfalls on this trip into western New York ... but none of them can top Niagara Falls. We visited here 20 years ago ... and were blown away by the beauty as profoundly as we were back then. Millions of gallons of water per second flow over this exposure of Niagara Escarpment. You gotta see it ... put it on your bucket list.Jump to full entry
Oct 6, 2014 - Day 31
Hi Everyone, Well we began another full day with a short trip to Syracuse for Gaz to send some presents back home and for Smalls and myself to grab a few University of Syracuse souvenirs. Syracuse is very much an all American college town with a large student community and a fair amount of frat houses, so after completing our tasks we headed out of town towards Niagara Falls where we crossed the border into Canada. Even though we have all done a bit of travelling, there seems to be something about immigration officials that makes you feel...Jump to full entry
Sep 16, 2014 - Where In Niagara Is Bill?
9/16/2014. Tuesday. Where In Niagara is Bill? It rained all night but this morning the sun came out and the weather warmed up nicely. The tour mini-bus picked us up at 11:15am but the driver had to pick up more peeps so we really didn't start our Niagara Falls tour until 12:30pm. We criss-crossed the Canadian border twice so we had to go through Canadian customs twice and the U.S. Customs twice during the day with passports in hand. Our first stop was the ride on the Maid of The Mist boat that took us on the Niagara River and right up to...Jump to full entry
Sep 16, 2014 - Niagara Falls
We finally are under way at 9:30 am following a few last minute items we needed to complete. The plan was to get to travel from Canton to Rochester,New York. That proved to be a really ambitious plan. Traffic going to Cleveland,Ohio was pretty heavy, along with the road construction. After entering New York,I could tell Rochester was a lost cause. So Sue started checking the Good Sam Trip planner we had setup prior,to our departure. In setting up the trip planner we had loaded multiple campgrounds along the way that we had prescreened. This...Jump to full entry
Sep 14, 2014 - Is That Disappointment ON her Face?
9/1402014. Sunday. Is That Disappointment On Her Face? We left CampBell early this morning to avoid the RV traffic jam at the only dump station. Good call by the Navigator! We on the road by 8am and heading west on I86 and then taking the more scenic route 36 N to Batavia where we picked up I90 west toward Buffalo. Suspiciously, this route took us right by Letchworth State Park the home of a tall waterfall. The Navigator me thinks pulled a fast one on me. Pulling up to the ticket gate, I asked the guard if an RV could make into the park. He...Jump to full entry
Aug 7, 2014 - New York - Niagara Falls
New York is officially known as the Empire State, we refer to it as the “toll” state. As if there weren’t enough state taxes already, drivers in New York pay a large amount in tolls, as we found on our journey through NY, to Rome, where my sister Stacey and her family reside. I put $60 in my wallet on the way out of Maine, and by the time we left New York, it was gone... that was just a one-way drive. You’re charged by weight, height, number of tires, and just about any other way they can add a fee. Thankfully, we only had two extra tires,...Jump to full entry
Jul 24, 2014 - Falling Waters.......
From Niagara Falls North KOA – Youngstown, NY Second “Bucket List” experience in just 7 days. Last Thursday Baseball Hall of Fame this Thursday Niagara Falls. Certainly a week to be remembered for years to come. Niagara Falls is a collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States. From largest to smallest these falls are Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Horseshoe Falls lies mostly on the Canadian side...Jump to full entry
Jul 20, 2014 - Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls was our morning destination so we got up early (7:45) and were at the falls by 11:30. Traffic was not a problem as we went straight to the Goat Island parking lot. It was a short walk to Horseshoe Falls and until you stand there, you don't realize how fast and hard that water is flowing. The falls are amazing and we could see the Maid of the Mist boat below. We didn't take that ride or walk under the falls and still felt like we got the essence of the place. We walked another 200 yards to view American Falls which was also...Jump to full entry
Jun 16, 2014 - Niagara Falls, NY
Today was a very busy day! It was fun but we are both worn to a frazzle. Time for a serious nap! We decided to take in the sights at Niagara Falls. Details coming up; but first, a little data on Niagara Falls. Collectively known as Niagara Falls, there are in fact three water falls: American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Horseshoe Falls is the largest and lies mostly on the Canadian side of the river. American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls lie totally within the boundaries of the US. Horseshoe Falls is also the highest with a...Jump to full entry
May 30, 2014 - Niagara Falls, NY
Next stop was Niagara Falls, NY, another bucket list item. We took several tours - one of the US side and one of the Canadian side. The falls were absolutely amazing and all we could say is ‘WOW!” One tour was on a boat that takes you close to the falls – I found this as amazing as getting up close to the glacier in Alaska. We found it interesting that the New York side seem to be quite old and depressed while the Canadian side was newer, alive and booming. I wonder what this says?!? We also visited the Ansley Wilcox house where Teddy...Jump to full entry
Dec 29, 2013 - Happy 50th birthday Micky!
Hi everyone We spent Micky's birthday at Niagara Falls and it was pretty special. We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview which is the closest hotel to the falls. Lashed out and got a two bedroom suite on the 20th floor and of course the view from the kids room (2 queens) was better than ours (king). Not sure why they would do it that way... The weather was great when we arrived, very cold but clear so we took a million photos. I know some of you have been here and it would be magnificent at any time of the year but winter time is just magical....Jump to full entry
