Cat & Dan go to White Castle. We didn't do any touristy things today, we started off going for a walk around the street and had lunch at White Castle. They have tiny burgers called sliders and you can them in a box of 100! We also went for a walk through Central Park and there was some big concert on. There were a few people waiting near the road so Catty and I waited to see what was going on. We ended up seeing the whole cast of Glee and Ryan Seacrest! At night, Me and Catty went to Red Lobster for dinner. It was amazing, we had calamari &...

May 13, 2012 - Day 4

Late start this morning.. Blair and I were really hungover from the night before (got home at 5pm). The girls packed the bags while Blair and I got some well deserved rest after hard nights drinking. We then moved to the Holiday Inn, which is closer to Central Park but a bit out of the action of Times Square. Catty and I took the subway over to China Town and walked down the street. There are people everywhere trying to sell you 'Rolex Watches', sunglasses, colognes and hand bags. Cat bought a nice bag and I bought some sunglasses and...

May 12, 2012 - Day 3

This morning we went to Central Park and hired bikes. We rode around the whole thing which is about 6 miles I think. It was really busy with joggers and bikers and its beautifully green at this time of year. We then risked going back to Macys and I bought some nice business shirts, including a Donald Trump shirt. We also bought some Calvin Klein bed sheets and a nice bath matt. Cat had developed a saw ankle so we went home and rested for awhile. That night I suited up in one of my new shirts and one of the suits I bought and Cat wore a...

May 11, 2012 - Day 2

The Yankees won! This morning me and Charlie woke up early and went for a jog through Central Park. We then went to the Empire State Building and looked around the city from 102 floors up. The view was amazing and it really showed how big this city is. The population of New York City is the same as Australia! We then did some shopping and Cat got lost in Macys (the worlds largest store, 9 floors high). Finally, we went to the Bronx and watched the Yankees game. The atmosphere was great, but the beers were $10 each! Dan & Cat

Our first day in New York was awesome! There is so much to do everywhere and there are so many people. We slept in a little bit because we got in so late the night before. We got a metro card for the subway and took the number 7 train down to Battery Park. We then took the ferry over to see the statue of liberty. We then went for a walk down Wall Street and looked at the diamonds in Tiffany's. Today we tried bagals, Venti Lattes (massive), pretzels, calzones, and pizza.. There are food carts everywhere! Dangerous :) We also did some...

May 9, 2012 - The Flight Over

We first flew from Tamworth to Sydney (1 Hour), then flew from Sydney to Los Angeles (14 hours) then flew from Los Angeles to New York (5 hours). This combined wth three to four hour waits in airports made it a very exhausting day. After we checked into our apartment at 1am and freshed up, we went for a quick walk around and had our first hot dog from a hot dog cart. Dan & Cat

Oct 10, 2011 - The Big Apple

Day two After a tearful goodbye to mom and dad, I stood cluelessly at the airport thinking what was I thinking going on a trip like this all by myself! Still can't believe I am but it's beginning to sink in as the days go on. In my mind i feel like any minute I may wake up and be right back at home snuggling up with my sweet cat, Klaratje. Either way, my trip has successfully begun as of about 11pm on Saturday night when my next destination set out to be the BIG APPLE! So here I am, seeing Times Square, Ground Zero, and even Ms Liberty...

Oct 1, 2011 - Last night in New York/Mary Poppins

We had a great night at Mary Poppins. We ate at Hard Rock and we had great time going over our favorite parts of holiday. Then off to Mary Poppins. Our seats were incredible, fourth from front in centre. Couldn't have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Kiara didn't move that's how much she loved it and yes got sucked in to the atmosphere and Si bought Kiara a Mary Poppins doll, just something else to bring home in our overweight suitcases. Anyway it was a fab night, a great way to say goodbye to NY and a real HIGHLIGHT of the...

Sep 27, 2011 - New York at leisure

Had a great day today, lots to see and do, where to start. We went back to Rockefeller centre for the observation deck, when we got there they said it was very smoggy and view was bad, so only l went, (the tourist amongst us). The view was that, but l could still see central park and the new york skyline. Simon took girls to coffee shop and they chilled out. Off then to central park where we rode a horse and carriage, with our enchanted princesses, through Central park. A great way to see the park. It was great fun. Today we also went to...

Jul 26, 2010 - A Good Day for Walking

Today we headed off for a ferry ride over to Staten Island. Was around 11 by the time we arrived at the wharf and only had to wait a short time before the ferry arrived. The ride over was pleasant with a strong cool breeze onboard. Went past the Statue of Liberty again and was thankful when we saw the lines of people on the island that we had visited Lady Liberty last year and did not have to do so again!!! Arrived on the island around midday and decided against our original idea of taking a 40 minute bus ride to Richmond Town in the...
