We started our day at Reid's a local staple, it was established in 1946 in order pay for the owner's college education. It became the place to go and still is. We went to Wagner's, a local restaurant known for its Beef on Weck - This is a sandwich made from very thin Beef with horseradish on a bun topped with salt and caraway seeds and is served with au ju. This sandwich was originated here in Western New York and it has it's roots in the German immigrants and is second only to "Chicken Wings". Weck is short for Kimmerweck which means "bun". It really is a wonderful sandwich. It is similar to a French Dip but so much better.

We spent a down day, set up appointment to have our hair done and scheduled our mail for delivery. We will spend the weekend touring. We did see a soccer game out our back window and saw a sunset, not as brilliant as we have seen in the past but very nice.

We are staying at the Elks Lodge in Lockport NY and will use this as our base for seeing Niagara Falls and Toronto and the surrounding area. There are 4 cement pads and we backup to a soccer pitch. They is a lot of history in the area, we are right across the road from the Erie Canal and Lockport has the first set of locks on the canal.

Sunday, September 25, 2011 - It was 60 degrees this morning when we woke up and reached a high of 79 here in Lockport today, clear skies and a beautiful fall day. The leaves are beginning to change colors so we should begin to see some really spectacular colors when we get down to Newport, RI and Connecticut. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 - Niagara Falls - Day 2: We have had beautiful weather the whole trip so far; the temperatures have been in the 60s and 70s. Yesterday we wore just a light jacket but today it's between 72 - 75 degrees and feels great! We've had some rain but it rains at night so it doesn't interfer with our sightseeing. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 - We left Lexington, KY on Saturday, Sept. 17 and drove to Brunswick, OH where we stayed at Willow Lake Campground Saturday and Sunday nights. This fantastic adventure continued with a visit to Lockport NY to see my college roommate David Root, his wonderful wife Lora and their last stay at home daughter Sara (upcoming sophomore in college). We are leaving NY and going to Zaleski Ohio to pick up our Motor home at our daughters and on to Tennessee to my brothers and on to Florida. Weather permitting. Arrived here safe and sound with everything intact. Nice family/friend oriented. We'd come back again. Lockport is part of the Niagara Wine Trail. We visited 3 of 13 wineries. Tasted some good wine but nothing extraordinary until the ice wine. It's thicker than usual wine. The grapes are picked after the season when the temperature reaches 17 C, after dark and no gloves.
