Jun 27, 2006 - Buffalo, NY
Our trip from Toledo to the Buffalo, NY, area was punctuated with a couple of shopping stops. Consequently, the 5 hour drive took considerably longer, but we arrived, set up camp at the KOA on Grand Island, had dinner, and then set out for Niagra Falls. Marty and I had seen the falls during the day. Now we have seen them at night. 10:00 p.m. turned out to be both a beautiful and practical time to go. Practical in that there were people, but not crowds of them, and because we weren't charged the normal $10 for parking. Beautiful is...

Apr 13, 2006 - Niagara Falls - Canada
Dom: The Greyhound bus dropped us in Niagara Falls, just inside Canada. The Canadians got the best of the deal here. There are two sets of falls here, the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls, both were huge though the Horseshoe Falls were more impressive as we were able to get right up beside them. It was as if i was in that scene from Superman where Christopher Reeves has just bought those two hotdogs but has to save the stupid kid with uninterested parents. I expected the town of Niagara Falls to be a discreet affair. God knows why i...

Jan 29, 2006 - Toronto - Niagara Falls
Left hostel in Toronto, went across town to bus station in rain. Took Greyhound bus to Niagara Falls, checked into hostel - owner Joe and his wife are a nice old couple from northern England, however, hostel has seen better days with very little heating ;o). Took a walk down to the falls in the rain, very rainy and misty so visability not good. The town is very touristy. Went to Boston Pizza for dinner, had huge beers after + watched Toronto Raptors Basketball game on the TV in their sports bar.

Nov 27, 2005 - Buffalo
We had a great weekend and it's too bad that it's over. Before I say anything else, I hope to have many more pictures when the others send me over what they took. It's very hard to capture everything when you also want to enjoy yourself. I know that Amber took quite a few group pictures, so I'll post them as soon as I get them. We ended up in a pretty good hotel in Hamburg, N.Y. Since the Bills stadium is in Orchard Park N.Y., which is on the outskirts of Buffalo, we were really only about 10 minutes away. We had a half decent bar in the...

Oct 10, 2005 - Lax via CLE to BUF (Buffalo, NY)
LAX-CLE-BUF My first stop was a travel conference in Niagara Falls. There are no nonstops from L.A. to Buffalo (the closest airport to Niagara Falls), so I took the cheapest carrier at the time. That was Continental which I found on Orbitz using our JohnnyJet.com flight search (test it out to see how great it is). I had to change planes in Cleveland and fly an hour on a regional jet. From there it was a 30-minute drive to Niagara Falls, USA. Niagara Falls Canada is on the other side, but we'll get to that next week -- as well as our...

Sep 21, 2005 - Nigara Falls
If you read the last entry, you are aware that we will be detouring from this trip to be with our family in Yakima. The loss of Bob's father, although not completely unexpected, was sudden and intensified the loss we have already experienced this year. If Chris was the "hub" of our wheel, then Bruce was the axel that put it in motion. He was a man of few words; quietly and daily devoted to sobriety that ultimately brought the Bordeauxs together. We received the news of his passing while in Niagara Falls, New York. Our flight back to Yakima...

Sep 10, 2005 - To New York State
Saturday, 10th Sept. New York State at 1:45 PM, near Buffalo. Dad/Ed thinks we'll be home tonight but it's still a long way. We are traveling on Rte. 90 as a change from our westerly journey. It's north of Rte. 80, close to Lake Erie here in NY. It is amazing how many vineyards are here! The grapes grow well with the atmospheric effects from Lake Erie. Some of my impressions: It was pleasant coming into the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, due to the change in landscape. So much greener! Being on the highway, we are not driving thru the...

Aug 30, 2005 - Hurricane Katrina Strolls North
42 52.5 79 15.5 Pt. Colbourne, ONT Canada Woke up on Monday morning with Katrina about to hammer the Gulf Coast and two large thunderstorms south of Erie threatening Lake Erie and our planned crossing to Ontario. On the one hand we really want to get into Canada and Lake Ontario before Labour Day and before the remnants of Katrina finds its way up to Lake Erie. On the other hand I don't want to spend another day on Lake Erie in the middle of thunderstorms. NOAA, who has been consistently right-on while in Lake Erie, continues to say...

Jul 16, 2005 - On to Niagara Falls, New York
We left Frankenmuth and, after breakfast at Bob Evans restaurant in Birch Run, we headed south on I-75 to Flint where we then turned east to Port Huron where we crossed into Canada. The weather was miserable...rain...hence, no pictures of this trip. However, the southern Ontario countryside is absolutely beautiful with slow rolling hills and many, many farms...just like Michigan. All was well until we reached Hamilton where we encountered urban traffic again. Anyway, exactly 6 hours after leaving Bob Evans Restaurant, we pulled in to our...

Apr 24, 2005 - Niagara Falls, New York State
After a very cold night in Tioga Pensylvania we arrived at Niagara falls just north of Buffalo in NY state to find out it had snowed there the night before. Never mind we were here for one thing and one thing only a big water fall! We ventured to the falls the same afternoon spinning out that Canada was a few short steps away and very visible from the American side. The falls were a lot of fun. We went on the Maid of The Mist - a boat that takes you down to the base of the falls, needless to say we got tossed around on the boat and still...

Jan 12, 2005 - Over to Buffalo..
Next stop Buffalo....Well, we finally arrived late afternoon and checked into our hostel, which was very comfortable and just as nice as some of the hotels we've stayed in. Just stayed for 1 night here as were heading off to Niagara Falls first thing in the morning but we will be coming back on Saturday for a day or so...

Oct 11, 2004 - Niagara!
By the time we got to Niagara falls it was well dark. Fortunately there are casinos and whole tourist cities built around each side of the Falls. The Canadian have got it going on, impressive skyscraper hotels and monster coloured spotlights to turn the falls into a magical rainbow of colour at night. They have the advantage of having the falls face them, so we headed over the bridge on foot into Canada at 10.30 at night. One of the sweet things about being human is that we have the ability to create some amazing beauty as well as destroy...
