(Ron Writing) I’ve been neglecting this travel journal for awhile because we just haven’t been traveling. We’ve spent the past three weeks at a very nice campground in Storrie Lake State Park, NM about 4 miles north of Las Vegas, NM. It’s a nice quiet place and with an elevation of 6,600’ the weather has been just about perfect for this time of the year. We liked Bluewater Lake State Park also but it was quite remote. Aug 23, 2012 - Storrie Lake State Park, NM - Another Nice NM Park

(Ron Writing) On Tuesday morning we left Santa Fe and drove about 50 miles east to Las Vegas, NM. We stopped at Storrie Lake State Park about 4 miles north of Las Vegas. This is another New Mexico State Park with facilities much like Bluewater Lake. But here each of the sites has a small concrete pad for the picnic table. There is a 3-sided building over the slab so it makes a great place to enjoy the outdoors and stay out of the sun. Also, there is a water hydrant at each site.
