Jun 11, 2013 - Beam me up Scotty
I really like Roswell, New Mexico. It’s been on my RVing bucket list almost as long as we’ve been RVing. And you don’t have to be a UFO aficionado to enjoy this town, although it was the main driving force for me. There’s a lot to see and do here besides look for aliens. It has a warm and inviting small town feel and the natives are friendly. The day after we got here, we attended their Second Annual Fiddle N Griddle Festival. It encompassed a fiddling competition with some substantial monetary prizes that drew fiddlers from as far away as...

Apr 7, 2013 - Roswell - we're melting!!!!!
We're in Roswell, New Mexico and holy moly is it HOT!! Topped out at 91 degrees last time we checked. We went to the Alien Museum today - it was really cool.....literally.....it was air conditioned! Just had dinner and hoping for the cool desert air. It is really neat around here. Are we having a good time? Oh yes - today on the drive here we were laughing so hard that Susie pretty much stopped breathing, had to slow right down and put on the hazards. Good times. Met some people from Edmonton here in the RV park. Didn't expect...

Mar 14, 2013 - Texas to New Mexico
Today was scheduled as a driving day, which it was, but with some interesting sites to see. We saw much of God's handwork in the formations of mesas, rocks and even a mountain which Linda said is Mt Sardine. We also saw wide open pasture land with cattle and sheep. Huge farms with equipment to match and red topsoil no less. A lot of straight boring roads with enough wind to keep me awake. We were amazed by the amount of wind turbines we saw. The pictures show only a tiny fraction of the number we actually saw. Cattle grazed around them and...

Feb 25, 2013 - I-40 Closed due to plains blizzard - Changes our route of traveling home
The weather certainly has impacted our trip recently; We had to re-winterize our RV'S before leaving Las Vegas due to the low temperatures forecast going east, we had to cancel most of our travel day today because of a severe blizzard hitting the Plains, and as the storm is forecast to continue Through Wednesday, we have to go South a bit to get around the storm. This may add a couple days to or travel time until the storms passes. The photo for this writing shows the I-40 closed to all traffic east bound In Albuquerque, NM. These folks...

Nov 20, 2012 - MIDWAY RV Dexter/Roswell, NM
11-20-12 MIDWAY RV Dexter/Roswell, NM Midway RV Park is located 7 miles south of Roswell, NM. We stayed 6 nights and we saw lots of little green men from Mars--LOL. We always wanted to visit Roswell. We expected a small town, but it is certainly different than expected. Roswell is a large town of almost 50,000 and very busy. We did see lots of aliens (green men), but they are just decorative statues in front of some businesses or are drawn on some merchants' windows. Anyway, we love the weather which was low 70's during the day and cold at...

Nov 9, 2012 - Roswell NM - Bottomless Lakes State Park
Since we were in Roswell, we naturally had to visit the UFO museum in town. There were several displays about what happened when a UFO supposedly landed near Roswell in 1947. Didn’t see any real space aliens while we were there, though, just a lot of green alien statues. Stayed at Bottomless Lake state park while in the Roswell area. The lakes are really giant sink holes. The one in the pictures, Lea Lake, is the deepest at 90 feet deep. It was very nice there at first, but then the winds came. We ended up staying an extra day waiting for...

Oct 15, 2012 - Roswell, NM
We left Albuquerque around noon on Sunday headed towards San Antonio, TX. We decided to stop in Roswell, NM to see the Alien Museum about Area 51 and the government cover-up of the alien spaceship that crash landed in Roswell back in the 40's. The whole town is geared towards showing off the little green men. As you will see in some of the pics.....they even greet you on the McDonald's windows. Some businesses have sculpted green or silver aliens outside their stores or shops.

Oct 4, 2012 - Did Aliens Really Come to Roswell?
Ever wonder about whether aliens really exist and have visited earth? We stopped att eh UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, New Mexico to learn about the strange events that supposedly happened outside Roswell in July of 1947. At first, it was reported that an alien flying saucer had crashed at a ranch outside of town, but later the official news was that the first reports were in error and that all that crashed was a high altitude weather balloon. The story was buried until the mid 1980s when interest was re-kindled and UFO...

Sep 27, 2012 - Roswell NM
Roswell is a struggling town that has a couple of places enjoyable to visit. UFO Museum – A fun place to visit. Entertaining for about 2 hours. Roswell has many big box stores so it was a good place to restock and repair the RV. The Roswell area outside the city was as brown and boring as around Carlsbad. Way too monochromatic for me to live there long term. Nature preserve – Just outside of Roswell is a beautiful nature preserve called “Bitter Lake”. Nice loop road with a few easy yet long hiking trails. The drought has reduced the water...

Aug 17, 2012 - Last Day in Roswell
We finished seeing Roswell, so we decided to see a park that we heard of, about 25 miles away, called Bottomless Lake State Park. The lake is fed by a underground spring, so the water is a cool 71 degree, year round, which is great in the summer, as temps get to about 108 some days. The park grounds are nice, and the RV section has all the amenities. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the runoff from the lake, runs right through the park, including some sites. I guess you have running water to your site, along with piped in...

Jul 5, 2012 - Roswell, NM
Roswell, NM, is not usually a place where we stop while driving around New Mexico. When we're in New Mexico, we're usually at our daughter's place near Albuquerque. Or, we go to Carlsbad to see my 93-year-old mother. This time, family event changed our travel plans. Son, Robert, could not join us for the Fandangle, because he was working on a job in Roswell. His company, which is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, does concrete work that is amazing. He can make a concrete floor look like marble. He and his crew (which included a...
