Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We spent ours in the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. It was really awesome to see all the tall pine and other trees after being in the desert for a few weeks. We were about 6,000 feet above sea level in the mountains and the temperatures were in the 70’s. It was wonderful weather. And our turkey dinner was excellent. I would never have thought we could get a 12 pound turkey in our little oven, but we did. That left us plenty of turkey, stuffing, etc. for leftovers. While in the forest, we drove to...

Retired at Last!

Aug 11, 2012 - Tent Camping in the Gila National Forest

The only major event that occurred during the first ten days of August was my birthday on the 8th. We had no big celebration. Clark, our daughter and I were alone. Betsy made a absolutely wonderful Spaghetti Carbonara and the three of us feasted on that and watched the Olympics. Clark and I did drive to Santa Fe on the 4th to attend the memorial service for my very best friend from Carlsbad. We drove up the back way, on the Turquoise Trail.
