Left Williams, Arizona today for our leisurely trip back home. While in Williams we had a very good time. Went on a train Monday and spent the night at the Grand Canyon in the Angel Bright cabins which overlooked the canyon. It really is a beautiful place and I am glad i got to see it. We are spending the night at the same campground we stayed at on the way out (Bar S) in Milan, New Mexico. We wheeled out of the campground right at 10:00 and headed one exit east on I-40, then south and west on Hwy 53 towards the El Morro National Monument. It has been a national monument since 1906 and while there isn’t a whole lot there, what is there is really neat. At the base of the cliffs is a year-round pool of water that has drawn Pueblo Indians and travelers from the days of the early Spanish explorers. The Pueblos carved petroglyphs in some spots on the cliffs, but the majority of the carvings in the sandstone are from when the...Jump to full entry

We left the campground north of ABQ right at 9:30 and pulled into the booming metropolis of Milan NM right at 11:00. The campground isn’t much to look at, but at $21 a night, it will do for a couple nights. We had planned to do some tourist things about 45 miles away, but it wouldn’t work out timing-wise so we figured we would just hang out today and do our touristy things tomorrow, but we got pretty bored so off we went with a revised scheme.
