Established in 1876, this bath house has retained much of its original charm. The town is very small, probably having no more than 250 residents, and is nestled in a very geothermally active river basin. Each visitor gets their own private bath to soak in. The water comes gushing out of two large taps in the wall… both natural mineral waters. The one on the left comes right out of a geothermal vent that was originally a geyser that was capped off to produce the baths. It is a scalding 160 degrees F! Oct 9, 2007 - 10th Day to Jemez Springs, NM - Trails End RV Campground, 505-829-4072

A short travel day (5.5 hours), although it seemed to turn into a long day for us weary travelers. Our campsite is located in Jemez Springs, NM (pronounced Hemez) which is approximately 55 miles from anything. We traveled through several Pueblos to reach our final destination. Along our drive today, we passed miles and miles of flat, flat, flat prairie and prairie with some buttes until we finally approached Albuquerque which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and endless blue sky.
