The Santa Fe Plaza looked much as it did when I first saw it 18 years ago. I remember women sitting on blankets, looking hungry, with hungry-looking children or babies at their sides. Today vendors sat on crates and drank from water bottles. I wonder if they're waiting for tourists to leave so they can check their cell phones. In one shop I perused a rack of clothes with prices from $100 to more than $1,000. Later, a shopkeeper asked me if I didn't think those prices were reasonable. Reasonable for whom? I wanted to say. Oct 2, 2011 - The Eldorado Stables

Jim Jackson, the Broker I met yesterday, was explaining how to get to the barn his friend, Julie, owns. "Go through the gate, go all the way to the end, and turn left at the pile of manure." I'd never heard directions quite like that Julie, her friend Gwen, and Jim's wife, Sandy, were kind enough to give this hopeful cowgirl the lay of the land, so to speak. Oct 1, 2011 - Realtors & Brokers & Horses, Oh My!

What a day. I'm now Eldorado at Santa Fe. I've had my eye on it for about three years. Not only is every home the style I like, each sits on at least an acre AND the community has its own horse facilities. I wouldn't have to buy horse property! I would have hundreds of horse people to answer my questions. Only the downturn in the real estate market puts it in my price range—barely. My hopes are guarded. It may sound silly, but I feel like I'm entering mecca. I've read the online Eldorado newsletter and watched its housing market for years....
