Oct 2, 2012 - Edgewood, NM - Our time at Santa Rosa State Park
(Ron Writing) All good things must eventually come to an end, or so it seems. We had a very enjoyable stay at Santa Rosa State Park but we are now at their limit of 21 consecutive days so it’s time to move on down the road. We really liked the campground with nicely spaced sites and the climate was just about right for this time of the year. We did have about three days when it got up to around 90° but the rest of the time it was in the 70’s or low to mid 80’s. During the week the campground was generally less than 20% occupied. On the...

Aug 7, 2012 - The Long Drive Leads To
We started the day off right - Kit joined us for breakfast. It was nice to have a few more hours with him, even if we just sat around, watched a little Olympic action, and chilled. Discussion continued to focus on the potential for Kit and Tami buying a house in Tulsa, Kit's classes for the Fall, research and seminars, and health. It was just the fix that we were looking for. Thinking ahead, we will return in April/May and spend a month or so here. The weather was heating up fast, so we left Mingo RV Park in Tulsa around 11:00 am Central...

Jun 21, 2007 - Getting underway in the match--setting goals
June 21-Bang Head Here. Well I was focused on accuracy, which slowed me down, then I still had a miss on one stage when I dropped the hammer on a rifle round and it did not go off and I jacked it out. So I really didn't miss, I just did not fire. I could live with that, and it still was a pretty fast stage for me. Then on the next to last stage there were numerous pistol targets at a pretty fair distance. You started with shotgun, hitting a cowboy knock down that would throw up a bird. I got the knockdown and the bird without a problem, I...

Jun 20, 2007 - Getting ready for the match
June 20-Side matches all day. Susan came out with me and toured the vendors. She said said hello to some vendor folks that she met in Las Vegas. Tried on some dresses, but didn't want to buy anything if she wasn't going to the banquet. I shot all kinds of side matches—precision pistol (that was a joke-I can't put any real pattern together shooting one handed or two handed for that matter), precision rifle (similar result), speed rifle (did better there). Speed shotgun (my best round-shot all the targets and birds in a respectable time),...

Jun 19, 2007 - I'm shooting and she's working
June 19-I went shooting this morning in a warm-up match while Susan continues to figure out how to pay our bills and run our ranch from the coach. Her project for the last few days has been getting our satellite internet system working, and she has been very successful. We sit at the dinner table facing each other with two computers open and running. I am looking ahead for golfing, shooting, spa, and other recreational opportunities; she is trying to balance our checkbook. Not really a fair trade.
