Nov 11, 2012 - Enjoying our visit with friends
November 11, 2012 We are having such a good time here in Albuquerque with Ron and Genny! Last night we went to a soup supper and card party in the home of another couple we met at our campground. There was another couple there with their daughter who we met when they came camping last year, it was like a reunion! There are several couples who meet every Saturday night for a fun evening; lots of laughter and chatter. You know how Jim is with crowds. He wanted to go but he wasn't sure if he'd be comfortable so we drove our own vehicle in...

Nov 8, 2012 - Now it's our turn
November 8, 2012 We have hosted camped and cleaned and worked all spring and summer. Now it is our turn to camp and visit. We went to visit my sister for the first time since we got back to New Mexico last spring. She is only 2 hours from Cuba but we were both busy with doctor's appointments and other obligations all summer. I am glad we finally got a chance to go see her and her husband. We had a good visit, laughing, eating, looking at pictures and remembering other good times. We are parked in our friend's driveway in Albuquerque. You...

Oct 24, 2012 - Last few days at Rio de las Vacas...
October 22, 2012 I am amazed that summer has gone so quickly! We have gone from sleeping with our doors open to closing the doors and the curtains and stuffing Styrofoam in every crack we can find! We leave the little electric heater on that Ray and Becky gave us(thank you very much) and depending on our forced air furnace to keeping everything at 50 degrees so nothing freezes! Our nights are cold, about 18 to 20 degrees. The other night I woke up to the most horrible vibration/roaring sound! I realized it was coming from the furnace! I...

Oct 14, 2012 - Snuggling and cooking
October 8, 2012 We had such a nice day on Saturday. It was cool but sunny and the sun was warm so we decided it would be a good day to have a barbeque and cook what meat we had left. I had 10 chicken legs and 2 pork chops and one small sirloin steak which we cooked and I took the thighs from the ten pounds of legs and thighs I’d bought and I boiled them to make a rich broth. I de-boned the thighs and made cream of chicken soup with green chili in it. Oh man! Was it good! Jim ate four bowls! I made a pot of green chili and potato stew with...

Oct 5, 2012 - Making adjustments and finishing projects...
October 1, 2012 We only have one more month here as of today. This year has gone by so fast! We were going to go to get some work done on the camper when we leave here and stay with a couple of our friends, Ron & Genny. We aren’t going to have the money for the deductible for the insurance work to get done so we’re just going to forget about it and live with the damage. It’s only cosmetic, no big deal. Maybe we can find a surplus RV place to get the trim from and Jim can fix it himself, probably for a lot less that the $500 deductible!...

Sep 21, 2012 - Sad day at Clear Creek...
September 19, 2012 Today did not start out well. Jim took the dogs to Clear Creek to let them play while he and David worked on the fence. When he pulled into the campground, a dog ran out from one of the campsites and ran under the wheels of our truck! Jim was only going 10 mph but he couldn’t get stopped in time and the dog’s neck was broken! The poor couple who lost the dog were beside themselves with grief and didn’t blame Jim but it broke his heart as well! It sure brought back memories of our loss of Buster and Tigger. Oh, how sad we...

Sep 6, 2012 - Challenges....
September 3, 2012 We hope you all had a great and safe Labor Day holiday! We were so full that we had people camping at our site in tents at least until someone offered to share their larger site with the family we had at ours. There are some awfully nice people that camp here. We have some gals that come up here to camp who are professional women in their 30’s and 40’s and they leave their husbands at home! They love to camp and their men love football. I went for a walk and made it all the way to the top of the hill where they were...

Aug 27, 2012 - More camp host adventures...
August 26, 2012 Tomorrow is my sister’s birthday. Happy Birthday dear, sweet JoAnn!! You have always been smaller and cuter than me but I’ll always be younger!! HA HA!! We got so spoiled this past week. Genny and Ron and Verrity and Sam came back up to camp and they had us join them for supper every night they were here!! We had some great meals and laughter and conversation. We finally told them that they needed to go home so we won’t gain any more weight!! It’s been nice having someone to talk to and relax with. We weren’t busy during the...

Aug 15, 2012 - Enjoying the cool nights, we feel fall coming...
August 7, 2012 We had such a great crowd here last weekend! Everyone was polite and friendly and cooperative. That’s a good thing after having our last weekend capped off by a crazy woman! Don’t ask… Anyway, there were two intelligent and beautiful 10 year old girls who came over to play with Bambi and they brought me a beautiful bouquet of wild flowers. They had arranged them in a lovely display with the tiny white flowers in the center, surrounded by dainty little white daisies and long sprigs of blue bells at random throughout the...

Jul 31, 2012 - Feeling blessed...
July 20, 2012 We got good news from the eye doctor about Jim’s eyes, yesterday! He is losing some of his vision but it is not due to the glaucoma, it’s because he’s getting cataracts. Of course, they are serious but it is something that can be repaired by getting surgery to have implants put in like I did in 2007. They aren’t large enough to operate on now so we hope that by the time he needs to have the surgery, he’ll have some kind of insurance. I had to see the doctor to get my medicine adjusted again. My pressure went to 210/110 the...

Jul 19, 2012 - Summer is half over!
July 13, 2012 I can’t believe that this month is nearly half over! We had a pretty good Independence Day and the weekends before and after were rather light. We had fire restrictions in place up till yesterday. Now that we have had quite a bit of rain over the last several weeks, our ground is saturated and the grass is green so all fire restrictions have been waived. That makes for a lot more fun for our campers because they can have campfires again. We like to have a campfire a few nights a week too. We went to Rio Rancho yesterday to get...

Jun 29, 2012 - Gearing up for the 4th of July
June 24, 2012 We thought we’d be a lot less busy now that Stage 2 Fire Restrictions have been implemented but that has not proven to be the case. It is so hot down on the desert floor that everyone is headed up to the mountains to find some relief! As a general rule, it is 10 to 15 degrees cooler here than in Albuquerque. Most generally there is a breeze which makes it feel a lot cooler. So far the hottest it’s been here is 81 with under 10% humidity. With that in mind…the other day Jim leaned over to give me a kiss and with this dry air,...
