March 10 Today was an interesting day with a lot of different things happening. We headed out to Chaco Culture National Historic Park and when we reach the main road we notice two rat rods and an older pickup truck. What to do, follow them of course. They pull into the closest gas station so we stop and ask if there is a car show in the area. No show, just a bunch of car guys who meet at the Dunkin’ Donuts in the next town. Nov 11, 2007 - Chaco Cultural National Historic Park

We left the trailer at 6:30 and after picking up Robert and his brother, Tom, and a stop at the Village Inn for breakfast, we hit the highway north for the approximate 2 1/2 hour drive to Chaco Cultural National Historic Park. This area contains the ruins of the "Anasazi" civilization dating from 600 AD to roughly 1250 AD. We spent the whole day checking out the various ruins and it was 4:30 before we started the drive back to Albuquerque.

Oct 26, 2007 - Chaco Culture National Historical Park

I decided to spend another night in Farmington so I could make a day trip to Chaco Culture National Historical Park. This park is in the middle of nowhere, and I figured that if I didn't go now, I would likely never make it. Getting to the park also takes a commitment of perseverance as well as time, since the main road into the park is a washboard dirt road. Another good test for the Subaru. This park preserves the center of the Chacoan Culture, a civilization that extended throughout the Four Corners region a thousand years ago. The...
